This scientific report is based up<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> databank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> World<br />

<strong>Lepidoptera</strong>. The temporary tax<strong>on</strong>omical evaluati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 41 Belgian, Austrian, Norwegian,<br />

Hollander, French, British, Swedish, German, and American authors <strong>of</strong> totally 2350 <strong>Lepidoptera</strong>n<br />

scientific names at specific and subspecific level are reported herewith for <strong>the</strong> first time in <strong>the</strong><br />

Lepidopterology. Separately, 2159 species and subspecies <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lepidoptera</strong> from Tanzania, based up<strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Databank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa, updated and revised with <strong>the</strong>ir syn<strong>on</strong>yms. C<strong>on</strong>sequently, a full list <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

taxa is given.<br />

Within <strong>the</strong> frame <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa Project 2 , entitled Diversity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lepidoptera</strong> in <strong>the</strong> World<br />

(DLW) and <strong>Lepidoptera</strong> <strong>of</strong> Africa (LAF) 3 , syn<strong>on</strong>ymous list <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> species and subspecies, recorded in<br />

Tanzania, has been previously published by <strong>the</strong> authors as temporary report <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa (stand<br />

19.7.2007). 4 In this report, totally 1945 valid species and subspecies were listed with <strong>the</strong>ir syn<strong>on</strong>yms<br />

under <strong>the</strong> various families. In <strong>the</strong> present temporary report, this number has increased to 2159.<br />

Besides, <strong>the</strong> syn<strong>on</strong>ymous and valid names have been updated by <strong>the</strong> authors. The present syn<strong>on</strong>ymous<br />

list, based up<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> databank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa, is given at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> this report.<br />

The selected authors <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lepidoptera</strong>, recorded in Tanzania, according to <strong>the</strong> present<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cesa, are menti<strong>on</strong>ed herewith and evaluated for <strong>the</strong> first time in <strong>the</strong><br />

Lepidopterology (Table 1-9).<br />
