Tanzania. Cesa Publ. on African Lepid. 22: 1-50, 10 Tables. This scientific report is based upon the information of databank of the Cesa on the World Lepidoptera. The temporary taxonomical evaluations of the 41 Belgian, Austrian, Norwegian, Hollander, French, British, Swedish, German, and American authors of totally 2350 Lepidopteran scientific names at specific and subspecific level are reported herewith for the first time in the Lepidopterology. Separately, 2159 species and subspecies of Lepidoptera from Tanzania, based upon the Databank of the Cesa, updated and revised with their synonyms. Consequently, a full list of the taxa is given. Within the frame of the Cesa Project 2 , entitled Diversity of the Lepidoptera in the World (DLW) and Lepidoptera of Africa (LAF) 3 , synonymous list of the species and subspecies, recorded in Tanzania, has been previously published by the authors as temporary report of the Cesa (stand 19.7.2007). 4 In this report, totally 1945 valid species and subspecies were listed with their synonyms under the various families. In the present temporary report, this number has increased to 2159. Besides, the synonymous and valid names have been updated by the authors. The present synonymous list, based upon the databank of the Cesa, is given at the end of this report. The selected authors of the Lepidoptera, recorded in Tanzania, according to the present information of the Cesa, are mentioned herewith and evaluated for the first time in the Lepidopterology (Table 1-9). 1 Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ömer Koçak, Asst. 2007 Cesa Publications on African Lepidoptera nr.22 In Table 1, the lepidoptera species and subspecies found in Tanzania described by 14 British lepidopterists are given. Among 1025 scientific names, 599 names are currently valid, while 426 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 38.88 to 98.11. The average rate is 58.43, while the same rate for Zaire is 64.81 (cf. Koçak & Kemal,2007 5 ). Among 359 scientific names, 189 names are currently valid, while 170 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 22.58 to 91.17. The average rate is 52.64, while the same rate for Zaire is 53.63 (cf. Koçak & Kemal,2007). Among 226 scientific names, 134 names are currently valid, while 125 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 44.04 to 100. The average rate is 59.29, while the same rate for Zaire is 60.48 (cf. Koçak & Kemal,2007).
