There are people who say they love animals and people who really
do. This is definitely the case at Villa Rignana, a beautiful Tuscan
villa set in the hills of the Chianti area not far from the well
known towns of Greve, Panzano and San Gimignano.
The villa itself was a monastery in the twelfth century and has been
lovingly restored by the owner, Alessandra Bianchini, with artifacts
from her many travels and family treasures from near and far. She has
managed to maintain the original Tuscan atmosphere of the estate and
restore and decorate it with unusual details that make it a fascinatiing
experience. In every direction the view of olive groves and vineyards on
the surrounding hills is quite unforgettable.
Lavender, rosemary and other aromatic herbs share the garden with
multicoloured roses and extensive lawns. The view from the infinity
pool is spectacular, to say the least, (before or after a refeshing swim)
one may use the open air whirlpool bath, the sauna or have a massage,
as for competetive pastimes, there is tennis, badminton,croquet and
bocce. The trampoline is always a hit with the smaller set.
Then there is the cuisine that is an experience in itself! Most of the

con la sua cultura internazionale, ha ricreato un ambiente utopico
sia per i suoi cavalli che per gli ospiti. Tracce dei suoi numerosi viaggi
si trovano negli oggetti, nei mobili, negli arredamenti e i restauri che
mantengono inalterato quel dolce sapore di luogo fuori dal mondo.
Accompagnano gli ospiti in un’esperienza sensoriale i filari di lavanda,
le erbe aromatiche, le differenti varietà di rose, la grande piscina a
sfioro, il campo da tennis, la vasca idromassaggio all’aperto, la sauna, i
bagni di vapore, i massaggi e soprattutto la cucina raffinata, basata sui
prodotti naturali coltivati sul posto. Questa è la cornice preziosa di Villa
Rignana, il cuore della villa è la natura, anzi l’amore per la natura e per
gli animali.
Da questo sentimento è nata l’idea di un club esclusivo per cavalli scalzi.
Molti sono ormai i sostenitori del Barefoot Movement, il movimento per

The 150 acres of land that surround
the villa offer ideal grazing
ground for horses and the particular
characteristics of the soil are
an ideal environment for unshod
horses as in the Barefoot movement
which has many followers
all over the world.
In some countries even racehorses
go unshod with better results.
Thanks to a long natural track the
horses move and graze together as
they would naturally in the wild,
their hooves improoving visibly.
The club can accomodate a maximum
of ten horses and their owners
are invited to use the club’s
facilities. At times,arrangements
can be made to board the owners
as well, for Villa Rignana is a
paradise for all!

zoccolo, per cui non necessita più
la ferratura con tutti i suoi svantaggi.
Alessandra ha trasformato Villa
Rignana nella dimora perfetta e
ideale per cavalli: 50 ettari di terreno
– quello del Chianti è considerato
il terreno migliore per l'indurimento
dello zoccolo –, dove
possono pascolare in branco allo
stato libero in un percorso naturale.
Il club è riservato a un massimo di
10 cavalli, per mantenere sempre
ai massimi livelli il loro benessere.
Inoltre i proprietari dei cavalli
possono usufruire della dimora e
di tutto ciò che essa offre. Villa
Rignana è un vero paradiso per
tutti!
