in italics. Tlie sjuonyms under each species have been divided into<br />

classes where that is necessary, and then arranged alphabetically for<br />

convenience in referring to them. The symbols representing t. e composition<br />

of the minerals have been given according to the new system,<br />

as that seems mostly to accord with the modern progress.<br />
