Dear Members,<br />
The appointment of The S.I.M.O. National Convention<br />
has reached its' Seventh Edition. The theme this year is<br />
“<strong>Maxillo</strong> Odontostomatology without Frontiers”. The<br />
international Convention is of great importance and<br />
interest, organized in the odontologic field for comparison<br />
between American, Italian, English, French and<br />
Swedish Schools joined by the generosity and hard work<br />
of the American philanthrope, George Eastman. The<br />
Convention will be held over 3 days; Day 1 will begin<br />
with the inauguration, after greetings from the invited<br />
Authorities, followed by the Lectio Magistralis held by<br />
Prof. Cyril Meyerowitz. A concert held by the Police<br />
Service of Rome Choir “Virgo Fidelis”, will conclude the<br />
inauguration of the 7 th SIMO Convention.<br />
The Convention will precede on the morning of<br />
Thursday 5 th of February, by interesting pre-conventional<br />
courses; such courses will deal with themes related to<br />
research and innovative technology in Odontology:<br />
Laser, regenerative Surgery, Implantology and piezoeletric<br />
Surgery.<br />
The following days, themes on innovation in maxillo<br />
odontostomatology in Italian and European Schools will<br />
be addressed.<br />
Given the success to the previous editions, the Directive<br />
Board of S.I.M.O. has decided to reintroduce a session<br />
of reports, presented by the younger Odontist members<br />
of S.I.M.O.<br />
However, perhaps the most interesting news of the<br />
Convention is that the Directive Board of S.I.M.O. has<br />
decided to dedicate Euro 10,000.00 to the Odontostomatology<br />
Homecare project abroad.<br />
This contribution means a great incentive for the diffusion<br />
of <strong>Maxillo</strong> Odontostomatology Homecare for the<br />
less fortunate.<br />
All the events will be accredited by CME.<br />
I am delighted, therefore, of your participation to The 7 th<br />
National Convention, 1 st International <strong>Congress</strong>.<br />

The Use of Laser in <strong>Maxillo</strong> Odontostomatology<br />
Laser technology is by now part of the modern instrumentation used in <strong>Maxillo</strong><br />
Odontostomatlogy. Furthermore the introduction of new wave lengths adapted to <strong>Maxillo</strong><br />
Odontostomatlogy, make it possible to carry out numerous surgical restorative and aesthetic<br />
interventions in both soft and hard tissue with the use of the maxillo-stomatognatic apparatus.<br />
The Diodi laser, extremely compact and versatile allows for abrasive, exsected and plastic<br />
treatments on soft tissue. This laser opens new and extremely interesting prospects for the<br />
treatment of oral cavity blemishes and oral pathologies. The author, after presenting the specific<br />
characteristics of the machine, will present clinical cases with a final discussion regarding<br />
these cases.<br />

Practical trials on organic materials with Piezosurgery<br />
Piezoelectric surgery has recently presented importantance in both the clinical and congressional<br />
environment. During the presentation, fondamental elements will be examined to evaluate<br />
what is the scientific function at the base of piezoelectric surgery, what are the real possibile<br />
applications and what are the futuristic scenes and which should be the scientific criteria<br />
on the guide of histological samples for the correct choice of apparatus to obtain. Lastly,<br />
after an appropriate technical explanation, practical exercises on animal models will be performed<br />
with the aim to appreciate the real benfits offered from piezoelectric surgery.<br />
