I test non hanno di per sé particolari effetti collaterali, ma i<br />
pazienti in cui il FOBT è falsamente positivo (circa la metà)<br />
sono sottoposti ad una colonscopia che, in una situazione<br />
diversa dallo screening, non sarebbe stata eseguita.<br />
Gli effetti collaterali principali sono quindi da riferire agli<br />
esami endoscopici, anche se non devono essere<br />
sottovalutati gli effetti collaterali psicologici, quali l’ansia<br />
creata dalla falsa positività, poi non confermata dagli<br />
accertamenti di II livello, o la falsa rassicurazione legata ai<br />
risultati falsi negativi, che può comportare un rischio di<br />
ritardo diagnostico
