State Geodetic and Cartographic Service,pp. 1-60.The information on the names of countries supplied in the seriesPolish geographical names oj the world was limited to fuli names inP01ish and in the official 1anguage of a country, accompanied bycolloquia1 forms used in both 1anguages. These publications did notcontain terms used for inhabitants of the country and its capital, orderived adjectives. All this supplementary information was included inthe previous lists, published in 1975, 1977 and 1986. Polish geographicalnames oj the world contained, however, numerous names of units ofadministrative and political division within particular countries.The presently prepared list of names of· countries of the worldcomprises the following information:1. Name of the country as used colloquially in the Polish language- in nominative, possessive and locative cases and in abbreviatedform.2. Name of the country in the local language, in short form (incase of non-Latin alphabet in transliteration and Polish simplifiedtranscription).3. Full official name of thecountry in Polish.4. Full official name of the country in the national language (incase of non-Latin alphabet in transliteration and transcription).5. Adjective derived from the short form of the name of the countryin Polish (in nominative, singular, masculine).6. Term used for name of the country' s inhabitants in masculineand feminine, singular and pluraI.7. Name of the capita1 of the country in Polish; in nominative,possessive and locative cases.8. Name of the capital of the country in the 10ca1 language (incase of non-Latin a1phabet in transliteration and transcription).9. Adjective derived from the name of the capital, in Polish (innominative, singular, masculine).10.
