But it is the borderline between light and shadow the place where art, where<br />
poetry is born: A., a little girl who is in the Italian middle school, knows it<br />
well, when she writes:<br />
chiaroscuro<br />
it’s neither light nor shadow<br />
maybe it’s autumn<br />
The western dichotomy light-shadow represents the complementary or<br />
alternating values of an evolution: the seed buried in the darkness will give<br />
life to a tree, which is nourished by light to nourish other beings and to form<br />
other seeds.<br />
Light is rational knowledge, which becomes ours only in the darkness of<br />
perception.<br />
