Piazza del Nettuno with statue representing
the god Neptune

Basilica di San Petronio (Saint
Petronius)
The building of this gothic church
began in 1390, but is unfinished so
the façade is incomplete. Inside
you can see an original sundial. If
you want to have a panoramic view
you can’t miss the view from the
“Terrazza Panoramica”
Two towers
These two leaning towers are the
symbol of the city. The tallest, the
“Torre degli asinelli”, was built
between 1109-1119 by the
homonymous family. Is open to the
public and you have to go up 498
steps to be amazed with a view of the
city.
The other is the “Torre Garisenda”, is
46 meters tall, it tilts 3 meters and was
built in 1109.
Santuario della Beata Vergine di San Luca
Located on the hills, this sanctuary dominate the
city. Inside there is a painting of the Virgin
painted by Saint Luke in the 12 th Century. The
fastest way to go up there is by a “tourist train”
from Piazza Maggiore, but the most authentic
way is going up on foot through the portico: the
effort will be rewarded with a breathtaking view
