Mixed reality Augmented

Mixed reality Augmented Reality (AR) or VR and AR together will revolutionise medical applications. Holographic products, such as The HoloLens 2 mixedreality headset from Microsoft, will make holograms ‘touchable’ via its ‘instinctual interaction’ technology. For example, you could see and play a virtual piano, or you could use it with operational equipment from factory floors to medical service providers – a doctor could remotely provide medical advice or a demonstration to an assistant. Educational services using VR and AR Enhanced remote and local teaching using mixed reality technology to share and experience learning from different locations can become a reality with 5G due to the instant connectivity, fast download speeds, low latency and sharing that all optimise the experience. People with disabilities or experiencing illhealth would especially benefit from educational services provided in this manner. The equipment involved here would be the VR headsets/ software and 5G access for homes, clinics and hospitals. Smart factories/farms 5G can help performance in factory product lines. Sensors attached to machines in the production line can help with what is known as ‘preventative maintenance’. The multitude of sensors will collect data, analyse and predict failures, and the very nature of the volume of sensors and data makes 5G applicable. The same process could be considered for use in the field of agriculture to enable smart farms. Sensors in tractors, in the land and on animals could all collect data smartly for capture, analysis, messaging and maintenance. There will be specialists offering the hardware and software propositions to enable the deployment in these instances. The sensors will be working with and talking to 5G MiFi and CPE devices. We will be working with the providers of the sensors and data-capture solutions that will work with the relevant 5G hardware and remote device management software that will enable the smart farm or factory. Transportation services Many train, bus and coach operators currently offer Wi-Fi that optimises the current 4G networks. The launch of 5G will increase the capacity for these shared environments and provide the potential for streaming services, such as films, on these modes of transport that are not currently viable. These scenarios would require premium-based solutions, such as 5G booster/MiFi products. AI-enabled CCTV on public transportation using 5G will be able to identify instances of anti-social behaviour and allow instant action to be taken due to the streaming speeds and low latency. SME Proposed 5G speeds are going to rival or exceed many of the fixed connectivity speeds available for businesses. Companies need to consider the average download and typical pipe usage overall and by each person. Installing 5G booster/ router products would increase PAGE 20

downloading and streaming options and should introduce and improve video conferencing options for many. It would also reduce installation times and cabling costs and related maintenance. These devices can also act as a back-up to incumbent systems. In addition to this, cloudbased phone systems are on the increase, and the low latency required for effective voice calls and the increased capacity of 5G would enable an effective deployment. These options would also be relevant for maintained sites. Temporary sites Many industries, including construction and maintenance, are often hampered by delays in installing temporary communications from the likes of BT. 3G and 4G routers have been available for many years, but 5G booster/routers will increase shared accessibility and coverage while improving installation, deployment and launch times. The nature of the routers will improve flexibility and mobility in communications within the site and for site-to-site contacts. Leisure parks, stadia and racecourses Many sporting stadia and racecourses suffer from poor coverage and heavy-impact usage during events, especially with large crowds. A combination of 5G routers and boosters will optimise usage and customer experience, not just from the increased download speeds and increased sharing capability, but also from the intelligent ways that the networks will manage the live users. This can also help with live or recorded streaming during intervals between the live action, increasing the commercial opportunities for broadcasting and betting. Enterprise managed medical service providers 5G technology will enable the provision of managed devices over a remote or mobile network. Managed medical service providers will deploy remotely managed MDM/EMM solutions using the likes of SOTI MobiControl into care homes. All visiting medical personnel will have access to their appropriate data-capturing apps on the devices, and the patients can use the devices in a restrictive manner for Internet access. Currently, this service uses a Wi-Fi connection to a fixed network. With a premium 5G router/booster, service providers can administer and execute remote management and real-time data capture. This provides flexibility and ease of installation with the expansive and shared data facility effortlessly managed by the download speeds and management of data over the 5G network. PAGE 21
