Welcome to VIKING.TV

Welcome to VIKING.TV Viking is thrilled to launch a new online channel where we can continue to explore the world together When the world first faced COVID-19, we immediately stopped sailing our ships in order to protect Viking guests and employees. But just because we could not travel did not mean we had to stop exploring, just that this exploration would happen through Viking.TV. Talking with three of our Viking ship godmothers, astronaut Dr. Anna Fisher and explorers Liv Arnesen and Ann Bancroft, one piece of advice was clear: people need routine to get through isolation. So, we scheduled livestream interviews to give people something to look forward to. We categorized each day of the week by subject, from Museum Mondays to Wellness Weekends, which meant there would always be something of interest for everyone. With technology, we have managed to continue to share the world with our guests. MUSEUM MONDAYS The Munch Museum’s director, curator and conservationists host tours behind closed doors for Privileged Access® to one of the world’s most interesting artists. IN CONVERSATION WITH . . . TUESDAYS Viking Resident Photographer Alastair Miller chats with leading documentary filmmakers and photographers. ARTS & MUSIC WEDNESDAYS World-leading composers, conductors, photographers, artists, singers and musicians share insights into their creative worlds with you. GUEST SPEAKER THURSDAYS Journalist Anne Diamond interviews guests who have led or are leading extraordinary lives. AT HOME AT . . . FRIDAYS Whether it is the home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon at Highclere Castle, the historic estate that is the setting for the movie Downton Abbey, or a city that is home to a member of the Viking team, Fridays give you the chance to explore somewhere different. WELLNESS WEEKENDS Against a serene backdrop of the ocean, Mona Therese Winston takes us through gentle yoga exercises to balance the mind and body. EXPLORING MORE WITH KARINE Viking Executive Vice President Karine Hagen shares some of her favorite insights into different cultures around the world through a series of awardwinning short films. FEATURE Something for everyone ON VIKING.TV Since its launch, we are very proud to have welcomed some remarkable homes and significant institutions. Highclere Castle, the University of Cambridge, Chatsworth House, the Lobkowicz Collections in Prague, London’s Royal Academy of Arts and the Munch Museum in Oslo are just a few of the names that have appeared on the channel. We have also hosted some fascinating guests who are leaders in their field, including NASA astronaut Dr. Anna Fisher; ballet dancer Xander Parish, OBE; Classic FM’s Composer in Residence Debbie Wiseman, OBE; and Lesley Nicol from Downton Abbey. Wardens of history, like the Duke of Devonshire and the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, have enthralled us with stories of the past and present, and how they are conserving Britain’s stately homes and their treasures for future generations. Lady Carnarvon is a regular contributor to the channel, and her programs have revealed many facts about her home, Highclere Castle, and the people who have lived there—from the story of the men who discovered Tutankhamen’s tomb to a look at the maps that have shaped history. Viking guests like to be kept informed and participate in discussions about culture, history and the arts. During interviews, questions pour in from viewers that our guests respond to live on air. Likewise, viewers are keen to respond to invitations to share recipes and other projects, creating a community forum. Over the course of 2020, award-winning British journalist Anne Diamond has hosted a weekly live show on Viking.TV. Among the inspiring people she has interviewed are explorers Liv Arnesen and Ann Bancroft, the first women to cross Antarctica by sail and ski. Their achievements, individually and together, are extraordinary. Another interviewee was the CEO and cofounder of Medical Detection Dogs, Dr. Claire Guest, who explained how these dogs are used to detect malaria, Parkinson’s disease and cancer in people, as well as to detect COVID-19. Music is always popular on Viking.TV, and on Norway Day, viewers were treated to an uplifting live performance from one of the world’s top sopranos, Norwegian Sissel Kyrkjebø. On a different episode, composer Debbie Wiseman and conductor Elise Naccarato came together to debut a special choral version of our signature music, “The Traveler.” It was a moving performance featuring the angelic voices of Elise’s Myriad choir, the Libera boys choir and Viking performers from across the world. There is a wealth of people and places you can explore with us on Viking.TV. Join us for a fresh and Viking-inspired look at the world. YOUR THOUGHTS ON VIKING.TV “Thank you, Iʼm enjoying many of the Viking.TV offerings, both live and pre-recorded, and have recommended many to friends whoʼve never traveled with Viking. Maybe weʼll see them on board some day!” Clockwise, from above: Lady Carnarvon outside Highclere Castle; British actress Lesley Nicol with Karine; the Duke of Devonshire “I am loving these sessions! Of special interest to me are the talks by your [Viking] Resident Historians and visits to Highclere Castle. All are good though and a real boon to all of us!” “The Viking.TV series is a wonderful escape from everything that is going on around us.” “My wife and I have been enjoying various episodes from Viking.TV—an excellent venture.” “My husband and I are enjoying watching many other segments on Viking.TV, including Highclere, history and Munch. Iʼve been on seven Viking cruises to date and have booked one for the fall of 2021. Thank you so much for enabling us to ‘travel’ from our sofa!” EXPLORE MORE VIKING.COM 33
