I IFA BERLIN 2023 SNEAK PEEK I SPECIAL FEATURE I Beurer introduces wearables for times of need An electric blanket and an emergency bracelet were two new products unveiled by speaker Sebastian Kebbe, Managing Director Marketing and Sales at Beurer, at the IFA Innovations Media Briefing (IMB) 2023 in Berlin earlier this year. Sebastian Kebbe introduced the audience to the emergency bracelet EC 70, a wearable bracelet intended for elderly and disabled users. The EC 70 wearable works in collaboration with Beurer’s Caera app, which can be used both at home and on-thego, with a built-in SIM card using 2G mobile communications technology. Mr Kebbe explained that when the wearer of the EC 70 falls and enters an emergency situation, the wearable’s fall detection system sends an emergency call to as many as six emergency contacts. From there, the wearer can call the contacts themselves by pressing a button the device. After the contacts are informed, a communication line can be established, with the option to make a call, and location shared so that the wearer can receive assistance as soon as possible. Beurer’s Caera app also allows the contacts to communicate with each other via chat. Taking questions from the press, Mr Kebbe explained that if contacts are not located close to the wearer, there is the option to call a 24-hour emergency service who can then handle the situation. "Green Planet", Beurer’s first sustainable product series, was also on display at IMB, including heating pads, blankets and underblankets. “In addition, with the new 'Green Planet' series, Beurer is sending a clear signal that sustainable products Kärcher: Meeting a higher demand for robotics David Wickel-Bajak, Director of Communications at Kärcher, gave an informative presentation, beginning with the public announcement of a bold rebranding and attractive design can be perfectly combined," said Mr Kebbe of the upcoming line, expected to release in October 2023 Hall 4.1 / Stand 216 In an eye-opening power briefing at IMB in July, Kärcher lifted the curtain on the company's new signature line, its revamped brand identity, and an expanded range of robots. Kärcher is known for its dynamic yellow branding, but the company recently decided to make all of its indoor products white instead of the standard yellow as of January 2024. Mr. Wickel- Bajak explained this strategy: “It felt natural because parts of the portfolio were already available in white and now this is a last step to make it complete for the indoor segment, with yellow still staying as our [main] colour.” The new Kärcher “Signature Line” was also announced, with the top product of each device category joining this range of premium products. Each one is stamped with the signature of company founder Alfred Kärcher. The Signature Line is adding further value with a warranty extended by one year compared to Kärcher's other products. Kärcher is also expanding its robotics offerings. The company is known for being a pioneer in this field, with the CONFERENCES For the launch of 30 product innovations, journalists should mark Beurer's press conference on the first day of IFA on their agendas: BEURER PRESS CONFERENCE > 1:00 p.m. Date: 1 st September 2023 Location: Hall 4.1 / Stand 216 launch of its first commercially-used robot in 1996, and first consumer model in 2003. Kärcher has made big strides in the robotics field since its beginnings, and now offers RCV3 & RCV5, two smart cleaning robots that feature a swiping function, laser-based navigation (LiDAR), and object recognition. “There is an increasing interest in terms of everything robotics,” Mr. Wickel-Bajak explained to IFA International. “When you look at the professional and personal level […] there is a higher need for robotics and cleaning products” Hall 4.1 / Stand 215 IFA INTERNATIONAL • FRIDAY 25 TH AUGUST 2023 21
