Mazlan Che Mat was a former Associate Professor in theFaculty of Built Environment at University of Technology Malaysia witha background in Quantity Surveying and Value Management. He wasalso the former Quantity Surveying, Head of Department at UTM. Heused to work with PETRONAS and Public Works Department (PWD)from 1981 – 1984. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Quantity Surveying,Masters in Business Administration and a PhD in Value Management.He is a registered Quantity Surveyor with the Board of QuantitySurveyors, Malaysia.He sits on the Board of Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad(PSMB) of Human Resource Ministry and Technical Committee memberof Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department. He wasa panel of Assessors in the Malaysian Construction Industry ExcellenceAwards (MCIEA) in 2008 & 2009. He used to conduct Strategic Planningworkshops for Property Development’s Office of University ofTechnology Malaysia (UTM), a State Economic DevelopmentCorporation and presented a paper in the area of Strategic Planning inthe International Strategic Management Conference.He operates Value Management activities, Value Engineering & LifeCycle Costing under MCM Value Sdn. Bhd. of whom he is the President,also the Executive Chairman of MCM Associates Sdn. Bhd., a QuantitySurveying firm. He is currently the founding President of the Institute ofValue Management Malaysia (IVMM).
