This book is devoted to the 100th anniversary of Latvia. The main idea<br />
of creation of the book is to show one of the wonderful city in Latvia –<br />
Liepaja. The insp<strong>ir</strong>ation is from more important and knowable places in<br />
the city. Red and white colors are devoted to Latvian flag.<br />
1. Liepaja University. Liepaja University is accredited state higher educational<br />
establishment, which implements study programmes at<br />
all three study levels: basic studies, Master and Doctorate studies.<br />
2. Liepaja Theatre. Liepaja Theatre is a professional reperto<strong>ir</strong>e theatre<br />
that offers a diverse and high quality reperto<strong>ir</strong>e, with respect and<br />
developing attitude to musical traditions and focus on a new audience<br />
and is the regional professional art center.<br />
3. Liepaja Museum. The Liepaja Museum makes noteworthy effort<br />
in preserving and promoting the heritage of national culture. The<br />
museum’s holdings currently total more than 100,000 items.<br />
4. Concert Hall “Lielais dzintars”. Concert hall “Lielais dzintars” is a regional<br />
centre of culture and events, home to the Liepaja Symphony<br />
Orchestra, Liepaja Music, Art and Design High School.<br />
5. St. Anne’s Church. St. Anne’s Church is the oldest church in the city,<br />
mentioned for the f<strong>ir</strong>st time in documents from 1508.<br />
6. Swan-Pond in Jurmalas Park. 1902 Swan Pond was created following<br />
the design of an architecture Paul Max Bertschy. Swan pond,<br />
with an island and temple arbour on it.<br />
7. Liepaja’s tram. Liepaja’s tram is one from the kinds of the public<br />
transport in Liepaja. This is the line of the oldest electric tram in<br />
Baltija. Line of march length now is 14,8km.<br />
8. The Oskars Kalpaka Bridge. The Oskars Kalpaka Bridge is one of the<br />
oldest in Liepaja and Latvia, is a prominent example of engineering.<br />
The design of the bridge was after French engineer Alexander Gustav<br />
Eifel (1832 -1923) drawings.<br />
9. The Northern Forts. The Northern Forts were part of Liepaja’s central<br />
fortress and they were built between the 19th and 20th century<br />
to provide shelter to the naval base.<br />
