2. Frankfurt, European Central Bank, and Hachenburg, Bundesbank’s Applied<br />
Sciences University. A combined study visit with briefings at the ECB on current<br />
themes related to Monetary Policy of the EU (one day) and classes given by faculty<br />
of the Bundesbank’s Applied Sciences University on Monetary Policy of<br />
the Bundesbank and other national banks in the EU (five days) – 2 ECTS credits<br />
awarded.<br />
3. Brussels, Frankfurt, Strasbourg and Luxembourg. EU Study Tour in cooperation<br />
with Canadian Network for European Studies. Intensive studies about the<br />
institutions, evolution, and current issues of the EU through visits to the major<br />
institutions of the European Union. Briefings by the EU practitioners and<br />
politicians, meeting and discussions 3 weeks – 6 ECTS credits awarded.<br />
4. Erasmus exchange programme. ECTS awarded in the basis of the completed<br />
and passed courses.<br />
5. Brussels, Ottawa, Montreal, Victoria and other cities of Canada. EU-Canada Study<br />
Tour “Thinking Canada”, an initiative of the European Network for Canadian<br />
Studies, funded generously by the European Commission – a four-week study<br />
tour to Canada for European students that take place in September of each year,<br />
followed for selected participants by two-month internships. It commence with<br />
three days of briefings in Brussels on the EU and EU-Canada relations.<br />
6. Other exchange programmes with partner universities, summer schoolsawarded<br />
according to the mutual agreements on the credits provided by the<br />
exchange programme.<br />

Accreditation<br />
The programme was accredited in 2003 and after that in 2009 until 2015 according<br />
to the Law of the Republic of Latvia on Higher Education Establishments in compliance<br />
with requirements of the European Union.<br />

Admission and selection criteria<br />
1. Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree;<br />
2. English language proficiency¹;<br />
3. Quality of CV<br />
4. Quality of Motivation letter<br />
¹ If English is not your native language, your previous education is not obtained in English<br />
or you have not had any study courses previously acquired in English, you must present<br />
results of one of the following internationally recognized language tests:<br />
1) TOEFL IBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test) score at least<br />
80 or TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper Based Test) score at<br />
least 550;<br />
2) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score at least 6;<br />
3) Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English – C level or Cambridge Certificate in<br />
Advanced English – B level;<br />
Admission is arranged in accordance with competition rules and admission<br />
requirements set up by the Council of the Programme in line with the general<br />
University procedure accepted by The Republic of Latvia Ministry’s of Education<br />
Inter-institutional Committee. Admission exam is based on a quality motivation<br />
letter and interview (for international students the interview might be arranged<br />
via telephone). Results of the admission are submitted for approval to the Council<br />
of the Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Latvia, where the<br />
programme is implemented.<br />
Applicants should submit the following documents:<br />
1. Certified copies of the diploma of undergraduate degree and diploma supplement<br />
in original language. If education documents original are not in Latvian<br />
or English, a certified translation must be provided. Education documents<br />
must be legalized.<br />
2. Motivation letter (1–2 pages) and CV in English;<br />
3. Document confirming proficiency of the English language (if necessary);<br />
4. For international students completed application form<br />

5. Copy of passport;<br />
6. One passport sized photo;<br />
7. Copy of application fee payment check.<br />
