heat Pump iR Receiver
If the communication does not work, SMS-953 might be improperly placed with regard to
the indoor unit of the heat pump. Depending on the location of the IR receiver on the indoor
unit of the heat pump, there are different places to achieve maximum effect. Regardless of
the location, the basic principle is the same – the IR signal from the unit must reach the IR
receiver on the indoor unit in order for remote control via SMS-953 to be possible.
The IR receiver can be placed on the right side next to the indicator lamps as per item 1 or in
the centre, between the deflector and the filter opening as per item 2.

iR transmitter check
Check the IR transmitter by looking at SMS-953 via a digital finder (display) on a digital
camera or through the display of a camera phone. If you press the white and green test buttons
simultaneously, you must see purple light from the IR transmitter via the display. If you see
this light each time you press a button this means that the IR transmitter is in
good condition and working properly. You can do the check both on the front
and on the top IR transmitter.
Step 1: Turn on the camera and direct it to the IR transmitter.
Step 2: Press the green and white test buttons simultaneously.
Step 3: Use the display to look for purple light from the IR
transmitter.
Step 4: Press repeatedly to ensure proper functioning.
top iR transmitter
In order to use the top IR transmitter, SMS-953 must be placed under the indoor unit of the
heat pump. The maximum distance between the unit and the indoor unit shall be 1 metre.
The transparent dome with the IR transmitter can be turned left or right by up to 180˚ in
order to direct the signal to the IR receiver.

Front iR transmitter
If the front IR transmitter is used, the unit can be directed sideways or forward.
The maximum distance between the unit and the indoor unit shall be 7 metres.
