Administrasjons- og handelssenter er Rognan, mens tettstedet Røkland ligger 15 km lenger sør. Både E6 og Rv 77 går gjennom kommunen. Fv 812 tar av fra E6 ved Medby mot Skjerstad og Saltstraumen.
