A boa liderança é multiforme e multipolar. Emerge
potencialmente de todos os lados, e enriquece-se
na pluralidade e na diversidade.
Good leadership comes in many shapes and has many poles. It emerges
potentially from all sides, and is enriched by plurality and diversity.

Uma das principais razões para o fascínio decorre da natureza
paradoxal e contraditória da liderança. Senão vejamos: as
sociedades e as organizações necessitam de líderes. Os líderes
rasgam horizontes, empolgam, mostram o mundo de outras
maneiras. Os bons líderes libertam oportunidades e energias.
Inspiram e dão o exemplo. Mas também podem criar o mundo
que não queremos.
Para cada utópico existe um distópico.
Para cada libertador há um opressor.
Para cada aperfeiçoador de instituições há um esvaziador
institucional.
A missão da LÍDER é a de contribuir para a discussão da
liderança com vista a estimular a liderança inclusiva,
responsável e positiva. Defendemos a visão da liderança como
um processo de desenvolvimento de pessoas, organizações e
instituições. Ou seja, da liderança como alavanca de progresso.
Um progresso que não decorre apenas dos atores esperados,
mas de toda a sociedade.
A boa liderança é multiforme e multipolar. Emerge
potencialmente de todos os lados, e enriquece-se na pluralidade
e na diversidade.
Para cumprir a missão, recusamos:
a ideia de que o respeitinho (pelo chefe)
é muito bonito, mas enfatizamos o respeito mútuo
como ingrediente central da liderança;
a noção de que em terra de cegos quem tem
olho é rei: a liderança serve para multiplicar talento
e não para o abafar;
a ideia de que a liderança é um processo
quasi-genético, que determina que alguns nascem líderes
e outros não.
Pretendemos seguir esta orientação de forma independente,
promovendo a liberdade e a diversidade, e abrindo a discussão
às perspetivas provenientes da ciência, mas também
das artes, da tecnologia, do desporto e da sociedade. Mobiliza-
-nos o desenho de uma revista despida de academismos, mas
informada pelo conhecimento, apaixonada, mas racional, atenta
aos grandes movimentos e aos pequenos detalhes. Inspirados
em James March vemos neste projeto a boa marca do Quixote:
paixão e disciplina. Em frente!
WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO?
LÍDER’s aim, which marks the launching of the brand, is to start a
journey through the world of leadership. One of the main reasons for
fascination is the paradoxical and contradictory nature of leadership.
The fact is: companies and organisations need leaders. Leaders open
horizons, excite, reveal different outlooks in the World. Good leaders
unleash opportunities and energies. They inspire and set the example.
However, they can also create the World we do not want. For each
utopian entrepreneur, there is a dystopian one. For each liberator,
there is an oppressor. For each perfector of institutions there is an
institutional stripper.
LÍDER’s mission consists of promoting discussions on leadership in view
of fostering inclusive, responsible and positive leadership. We regard
leadership as a process of development of people, organisations and
institutions. That is, leadership for leveraging progress. A progress that
is produced, not only by the expected players, but also by the entire
society. Good leadership comes in many shapes and has many poles. It
emerges potentially from all sides, and is enriched by plurality and
diversity.
To fulfil the mission, we refute:
The idea of having respect only for the boss, and we reinforce
mutual respect as the central ingredient of leadership;
The idea that among the blind a one-eyed man is king:
leadership helps talent to multiply and not to stifle;
The idea that leadership is a near-genetic process, which
determines that some are born leaders and others not.
We intend to follow in this line independently, promoting freedom and
diversity and opening up discussion to prospects for science, as well as
the arts, technology, sport and society. We are moved by a magazine free
of academic ties, but informed by knowledge, passionate yet rational,
mindful of large movements and small details. Inspired by James March
this project reflects the sound D. Quixote brand: passion and discipline.
