By Jacob Walker

According to Wikipedia, a news article discusses current or recent

news of either general interest (i.e. daily newspapers) or of a specific

topic (i.e. political or trade news magazines, club newsletters, or

technology news websites).

A news article can include accounts of eyewitnesses to the

happening event. It can contain photographs, accounts, statistics,

graphs, recollections, interviews, polls, debates on the topic, etc.

Headlines can be used to focus the reader’s attention on a particular

(or main) part of the article. The writer can also give facts and

detailed information following answers to general questions like who,

what, when, where, why and how.

Quoted references can also be helpful. References to people can

also be made through the written accounts of interviews and debates

confirming the factuality of the writer’s information and the reliability

of his source. The writer can use redirection to ensure that the

reader keeps reading the article and to draw her attention to other

articles. For example, phrases like "Continued on page 3” redirect the

reader to a page where the article is continued.

While a good conclusion is an important ingredient for newspaper

articles, the immediacy of a deadline environment means that copy

editing often takes the form of deleting everything past an

EDITOR'S NOTE

"Today, football is played at a professional level all over the world.

Millions of people regularly go to football stadiums to follow their

favourite teams, while billions more watch the game on television or on

the internet. A very large number of people also play football at an

amateur level. According to a survey conducted by FIFA published in

2001, over 240 million people from more than 200 countries regularly

play football. Football has the highest global television audience in

sport.

In many parts of the world football evokes great passions and plays an

important role in the life of individual fans, local communities, and even

nations."

According to wikihow.com, advance

players see someone, make a decision,

and execute the pass, shot, or move in

milliseconds. The best way to become an

advanced player is to work on these

quick decisions. To do so.

Don't hold onto the ball for too long.

1-3 quick touches and a pass or shot is

usually enough. The longer you have the

ball, the longer defenders have to get

ready. If you want to dribble, attack with

pace. Make the defender react to you

quickly instead of giving them time to get

in position.

Let the ball do the work. You can never

run faster than the ball can travel.

If you lose the ball or get beaten,

immediately turn and try and win the ball

back, or get into position. source:

SOCCER

ATHLETES

By Frances O. McArthurr

According to wikihow.com, "Soccer is a

great sport that anyone can get

involved with and have fun playing.

To become an advanced player,

however, you need to start early and

work hard. You'll need to work on your

fitness, and learn to imitate the soccer

greats, but most of all you'll need to

have enthusiasm for the game.

Practice is the only key to advanced

soccer skills, but you want to make

sure you're practicing the right things."

The Hidden Cost of a Dirty Car

A car is a wheeled, self-powered motor vehicle

used for transportation and a product of the

automotive industry. Most definitions of the term

specify that cars are designed to run primarily on

roads, to have seating for one to eight people, to

typically have four wheels with tyres, and to be

constructed principally for the transport of people

rather than goods. Content from Wikipedia.

The year 1886 is regarded as the birth year of the

modern car. In that year, German inventor Karl

Benz built the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Cars did

not become widely available until the early 20th.

One of the first cars that was accessible to the

masses was the 1908 Model T, an American car

manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. Cars

were rapidly adopted in the United States of

America, where they replaced animal-drawn

carriages and carts, but took much longer to be

accepted in Western Europe and other parts of the

world. Cars are equipped with controls used for

driving, parking, passenger comfort and safety, and

controlling a variety of lights.

Over the decades, additional features and controls

have been added to vehicles, making them

progressively more complex. Examples include rear

reversing cameras, air conditioning, navigation

systems, and in car entertainment. Most cars in use

in the 2010s are propelled by an internal

combustion engine, fueled by deflagration of

gasoline or diesel.

Both fuels cause air pollution and are also blamed

for contributing to climate change and global

warming. Vehicles using alternative fuels such as

ethanol flexible-fuel vehicles and natural gas

vehicles are also gaining popularity in some

countries. Electric cars, which were invented early in

the history of the car, began to become

commercially available in 2008.

CONQUERING THE PEAKS

Travel may be local, regional, national

(domestic) or international. In some

countries, non-local internal travel may

require an internal passport, while

international travel typically requires a

passport and visa. A trip may also be part of

a round-trip, which is a particular type of

travel whereby a person moves from one

location to another and returns.

Once difficult, slow and dangerous, travel

has tended to become easier, quicker, and

more frivolous in the course of history. The

evolution of technology such as horse tack

and bullet trains has contributed to this

trend. While travel in the Middle Ages

offered hardships and challenges, it loomed

large in the economy and in society.

incident-free trip,

however, travelers

can be subject to

Some safety

include being

It is also advisable to become oriented

with the driving-rules and -regulations

of destination countries. Wearing a seat

belt is highly advisable for safety

reasons; many countries have penalties

for violating seatbelt laws.
