As much as private
projects have advanced,
the Government needs
to do its part and invest
in infrastructure.
In basic sanitation, the needs reach 0.45% of GDP per year, but investment totaled only 0.20% of
GDP, combining public and private investments.

In the electricity and telecommunications sectors,
there are lags, but at lower levels. In electricity,
the needs equal to 0.84% of GDP per
year, but investments reached 0.77% of GDP
in 2021. In telecommunications, it is necessary
0.76% of GDP per year, but investment totaled
0.39% of GDP in 2021.
Considering the investment lags, even considering
the estimate of a weak investment
increase in 2022 (more private than public),
complementarity between public and pri-
vate sectors is essential to ensure investment
growth.
Last but not least, private investments will not
advance in the presence of regulatory setbacks
and increased legal uncertainty. We also
need, given our comparative advantages, to
take advantage of the new investment opportunities
arising from energy transition process
towards green economy in an increasing ESG
responsibility.
