The desire for immersion of the senses and
the search for ways to achieve it are by no
means new phenomena. Provided by the
visual arts and guided by aesthetic criteria,
sensory intensification experiences have
accompanied humanity since the beginning.
At the heart of the Platonic myth is the
image of an isolated environment, initially
associated with ignorance, but which is
nevertheless the starting point for the
process of asceticism through knowledge, of
enlightenment through learning. The
sensory isolation resulting from the physical
and spatial qualities of a cave is, therefore,
an essential part of what must be
experienced. On the next pages we find the
article with Grant Dudson, creator of
immersive art projects in London and
artistic influencer, who will make us
understand and delve deeper into this
process.
