Volney Atwood, a member of
Wisconsin Lodge No. 14, I.O.O.F.
initiated January 16, 1847, was in
continuous membership until his
death December 30, 1906. Age 94
years, 11 month and 8 days.
Br. Volney was elected to and served
the lodge in the office of Noble
Grand during the year of 1851. He
was elected to the office of treasurer
in January 1852 and served
continuously until 1891. During the
war, 1861 to 1865, br. Volney paid
the grand lodge dues, with his own
money, thus the charter was kept in
force.
A few of the lodges in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois have
reinvented themselves as MC lodges and they are constantly growing in
members. They have created innovative ways of raising funds for Odd Fellows
many projects. For example, charity motor cycle trips, poker tournaments, and
even online raffle tickets. Janesville is one of Odd Fellows’ MC lodges which
combine the values of Odd Fellows with the joy of riding motorcycles.
T-shirts and Sweatshirts with I.O.O.F print and Lodge Number. Some of the
MC lodges have logos symbolizing its Lodge Name; for example, Phoenix
lodge nr 2.
