Riga TPP-2 Reconstruction Second
Unit Project / Latvia (page 28)
GAMA Power Systems was awarded as the
main EPC contractor of the Riga TPP-2
Reconstruction Second Unit Project. The project
is a combined heat and power plant which
consists of 1-1 multi shaft Gas
Turbine/Generator, HRSG and Steam
Turbine/Generator. The Steam Turbine has
three district heating condensers which allow
plant to run in full condensing mode, in district
heating mode and any load in between without
any limitation as per requirements of the district
heating load of Riga city. This is a unique type
of Steam Turbine and only available in few
plants in the world. When the Project is
completed, it will have a generating capacity of
350-420 MW electrical and 270 MW thermal
output. Generated thermal power will be
transferred by the district heating condensers to
the district heating system of the city. The
project is planned to be completed in July 2013.
As of September 2012; 97.45% of the
engineering works, 99.38% of procurement
works, 85.90% of site construction works and
28.21% of commissioning works have been
completed. The progress for the overall work is
90.14%.
The contracts for the supply of main and
auxiliary equipments and materials have been
signed. Procurement of any outstanding
commodity items is ongoing as per site
engineering changes.
Concrete and U/G system installation works are
