About the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County
BGCCC was established in 1968 and the McKinney Boys Club and the current
McKinney Club building opened its doors in 1974. In 1988, our name changed to the Boys
& Girls Club as girls were admitted to membership for the first time. The Plano Branch
opened in 1992 followed by the Frisco Boys & Girls Club in 1997. In 2007, BGCCC began the
Destination Graduation program in Williams High School and a similar in-school
program began in Shepton High School in 2008. In 2009, the West Plano Boys & Girls
Clubs opened through a partnership with Plano ISD and Parkway Hills Baptist Church
and moved to Christ United Methodist Church in 2013.
In 2013, BGCCC served over 7,500 Collin County children through
membership and outreach. Over sixty-two (62) percent of our members are low to
moderate income using the criteria of the US Housing and Urban Development for
Community Development Block Grant requirements. Almost 60% of our members are
eligible for free and reduced lunches according to USDA criteria. Over the last two school
years, 99.9% of our members have advanced to the next grade level on time.
Additionally, 100% of our high school seniors graduated from high school and were
accepted to a post-secondary school.
In 2014, we expect to enroll over 3,000 members and serve well over 8,000
youth through membership and outreach into the schools and communities, both alltime
highs in the organization’s 45 year history.
