He is a member <strong>of</strong> the Audit andRemuneration Committees and he chairs the NominationsCommittee. He is also Chairman <strong>of</strong> Rochdale DevelopmentAgency.Rhidian Jones, MA, FCIS, FIMgt Deputy ChairmanRhidian Jones, 58, joined the <strong>Board</strong> in 1993 and became theDeputy Chairman in December 2000. He chairs theRemuneration Committee, is a member <strong>of</strong> the Audit andNominations Committees and takes a special interest incorporate governance and compliance. He was previously aDirector <strong>of</strong> the Mornington Building Society. Rhidian began hiscareer in finance and property management, before qualifying asa solicitor. He is a partner in Nabarro Nathanson, where heheads up the corporate department, and he is also the seniorNon-executive Director <strong>of</strong> Serco Group PLC.Ian Adam, CAIan Adam, 58, joined the <strong>Board</strong> in 1998 and he chairs the AuditCommittee. He is a Chartered Accountant, and amongst hisother appointments he is the Deputy Chairman <strong>of</strong> FishersHoldings Limited. He was formerly Finance Director at ChristianSalvesen PLC.Harry Coe, FCAHarry Coe, 57, joined the <strong>Board</strong> in 2000. He is a member <strong>of</strong><strong>Britannia</strong>’s Credit Committee and is the former ManagingDirector <strong>of</strong> leading holiday company Airtours PLC. He chairsthe <strong>Board</strong>s <strong>of</strong> Travelsphere (Holdings) Limited and Jaycare(Holdings) Limited.Bill Gordon, FCIBBill Gordon, 62, joined the <strong>Board</strong> as a Non-executive Directorin September 1999. He has extensive experience in treasuryrisk management and he is a member <strong>of</strong> the Assets andLiabilities Committee and a Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Britannia</strong> TreasuryServices Limited. Bill is a member <strong>of</strong> the Non-MemberMortgage <strong>Board</strong>, a management committee recently establishedto oversee the operations <strong>of</strong> the non-member mortgagebusiness. He is the former Chief Executive <strong>of</strong> UK BankingServices at Barclays, and he remains Chairman <strong>of</strong> BarclaysPension Fund Trustees Limited.Gerald Gregory, BA, MAGerald Gregory, 46, joined the <strong>Board</strong> as Sales and MarketingDirector in September 1999 and is now Managing Director,Non-Member Business. He is also a Director <strong>of</strong> Verso Limitedand Platform Home Loans Limited, a member <strong>of</strong> the Non-Member Mortgage <strong>Board</strong> and is a member <strong>of</strong> the Society’sAssets and Liabilities and Credit Committees. He is also atrustee <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Britannia</strong> Building Society Foundation. Geraldjoined the Society in 1989 from Girobank PLC. He wasformerly Treasurer, Head <strong>of</strong> Lending and then Director <strong>of</strong>Mutuality and Marketing at the Society.Neville Richardson, BA, FCANeville Richardson, 44, joined the <strong>Board</strong> in 1998 as GroupFinance Director after 21 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers,where he was a partner in the financial services practice. Hewas appointed Deputy Chief Executive with effect from1 January 2002 and will take over from Graham Stow as GroupChief Executive in November 2002. He is a member <strong>of</strong> theAssets and Liabilities Committee and is also a Director <strong>of</strong><strong>Britannia</strong> Treasury Services Limited.Bridget Rosewell, MA, MPhilPr<strong>of</strong>essor Bridget Rosewell, 50, joined the <strong>Board</strong> as a NonexecutiveDirector in July 1999. She is also a member <strong>of</strong> theAudit Committee. She is an economist and is a foundingDirector and Executive Chairman <strong>of</strong> the economic and marketanalysis firm Volterra Consulting Limited.
