COURSE DESCRIPTION<br />
Hear and learn from experts by traveling to strategic areas of the country to study in the most historical and cultural landmarks<br />
in our nation. This learning opportunity will provide the participant with learning experiences and activities that will be beneficial<br />
to share and use in the classroom. Participants will travel and then apply their learning through relevant educational activities.<br />
LEARNING OUTCOMES (Upon completion of this course, students will be able to do the following:)<br />
• Identify and describe historical and cultural landmarks in our nation.<br />
• Recognize the historical, cultural, and educational significance of each of the sites visited.<br />
• Use STA Study Guides to enhance learning.<br />
• Construct peer groups with other participants to advance learning.<br />
• Develop a lesson plan or reflection paper that is appropriate for their grade level integrating concepts and experiences<br />
related to the educational travel.<br />
REQUIR<strong>ED</strong> READINGS AND RESOURCES<br />
STA Course Study Guide provided by the instructor that includes course information, activities, and resources.<br />
COURSE REQUIREMENTS (In order to receive a passing grade, participants will:)<br />
• <strong>Travel</strong> to all designated location provided in the itinerary (Samples are provided in Attachment A).<br />
• Actively engage in discussions related to the visitation sites with the expectation that appropriate strategies<br />
learned while traveling will be applied in a learning environment.<br />
• Learn from experts why these areas were selected and the significance of the sites visited.<br />
• Network with other professionals sharing experiences and ideas related to the selected site and dialog.<br />
• Actively participate in activities related to location visited.<br />
• Develop a lesson plan or reflection paper that integrates information acquired during the travel experience<br />
for use in the classroom or learning environment.<br />
GRADE DISTRIBUTION AND SCALE<br />
• Attendance 10%<br />
• Course participation 10%<br />
• Lesson Plan/Reflection Paper 80%<br />
Grading will be pass/fail. A minimum score of 80 percent will be required to pass. All assignments must be completed<br />
within 30 days of course registration.<br />
