09:10 KEYNOTE: THE IMPACT OF MEGA TRENDS ON EUROPE'S
COMPLEX ENVIRONMENT/ EUROPEAN DIGITAL SINGLE
MARKET
Sarwant Singh, Senior Partner, Frost & Sullivan
Europe is bound by an enormous number of out outdated regulations
and systems. New environmental, economic, social and political
developments and trends have challenged these systems, forcing
Europe’s policy-makers to rethink strategies for the future. With the
new growth strategy 'Europe 2020', the European Union is reinforcing
its commitment to becoming a smart, sustainable and inclusive
economy. This presentation examines these developments, along with
other external factors, through a Mega Trend lens and also highlights
macro-to-micro implications on businesses and society.
It will further touch upon the implications of the Digital Single Market
push; Europe's foray into Artificial Intelligence fuelled by Big Data and
Machine Learning; the Fintech revolution; Blockchain technology;
Industry 4.0 evolution and future consumers are expected to redefine
the European landscape of Europe as a singular leader driving
10:55 KEYNOTE: THE NEXT FRONTIER OF GROWTH:
OPPORTUNITIES IN CONNECTED AND MOBILE AFRICA
Aroop Zutshi, Global President & Managing Partner,
Frost & Sullivan
Urbanisation, mobility, infrastructure, natural resources,
telecommunications investments and inter-regional trade are just a few
of the untapped opportunities making Africa the last growth frontier.
The continent is set to become the second fastest growing region by
2025, with a gross domestic product (GDP) of USD4.5 trillion. Africa
is the only continent that has the potential to achieve double digit
economic growth within the next decade. This presentation provides
insights into the challenges impacting the region, innovative business
models and the vast opportunities for investment that the African
continent has to offer.
The 2025 strategic economic plan aimed at doubling Iran's economy
from the current USD 415 billion in the next decade necessitates
investments to the tune of USD1.5 trillion. The country, thus,
epitomises an untapped goldmine that is fast attracting the attention
of global opportunity miners. The Iranian Government's ambitious
efforts to make the country globally competitive are directed towards
creating a favourable business climate for companies to enter and
invest in developing its core focus sectors. Hear about Frost & Sullivan's
perspective on Iran's macroeconomy and opportunities across
industries for global companies.
11:10 THE FUTURE OF FINTECH: KEYNOTE
Luca Raffellini, Director, Business & Financial Services, Frost & Sullivan
Lift your gaze and, on the face of it, banking and financial services are
tough industries to disrupt: systemically vital, established branch
networks, secular expertise in credit underwriting, traditionally “inert”
customers....and yet, key financial sectors are being radically affected
and will increasingly be disrupted, both Retail and Commercial.
In areas like Payments, for instance, new business models are driven by
powerful but essentially well understood forces – e.g. mobile banking.
Other forces, such a Blockchain, have clear disruptive potential in
financial services (and not only) and a less predictable evolution.
We believe the most interesting questions in the future will be around
critical success factors. Most novel Fintech players tend to share certain
success factor, e.g. dramatic reduction of cost to serve, and face similar
challenges, e.g. increased regulatory scrutiny. What about the
incumbents? After a tentative start, established banks and financial
players are rising to the challenge and quickening the pace of
transformation, possibly more so now than in a generation. Big data,
customer journey, new capabilities – it is arguably an exciting time to
be this industry.
13:50 THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL DISRUPTION ACROSS INDUSTRY
The Internet of Intelligent Things
Adrian Drozd, Research Director, ICT Europe, Frost & Sullivan
Artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) will be the
two most important developments that will impact across industry
sectors over the next five years. Frost & Sullivan believes that to look
at these trends separately is to miss the wider industry implications.
The Internet of Things cannot reach its potential without artificial
intelligence, and artificial intelligence can only become a reality by
accessing the data generated from the Internet of Things. This symbiosis
will create, ultimately, the Internet of Intelligent Things.
Digital Transformation in Aerospace
Steven Webb, Vice President, Aerospace, Defence & Security,
Frost & Sullivan
Digital transformation affects every facet of the Aerospace industry.
The infusion of digital in the Aerospace supply chain allows the
optimisation of processes, the enhancement of existing revenue
streams, the introduction of new business models and presents an
opportunity to further improve the customer experience. Aerospace
OEMs, Airlines and Airports are three key user groups of digital
technologies and all have seen radical transformation in the way they
do business. We are now witnessing OEMs investing in building their
software and analytics capabilities, whereas Airlines and Airports are
using digital to better connect with their customers onboard and on
the ground. The presentation will focus on the opportunities and
challenges presented by this transformation in the commercial
aerospace supply chain.
Internet of Medical Things
Dorman Followwill, Senior Partner and Director, Frost & Sullivan
The great Healthcare challenge facing humanity can be summarised in
one Big Question: how can we deliver high quality care to every
patient globally in a sustainably affordable way? One key solution will
be the digital technologies revolutionising the Healthcare world. As we
move beyond simple drugs and devices through to integrated
solutions, the pathway to the future will be the digital experience. Key
to this will be Artificial Intelligence to streamline data gathering and
processing, to integrate disparate data sets into seamlessly
interoperable solutions, and to provide analytics that make this data
useful across the Internet of Medical Things - a new platform for
combining wearables, home based patient monitoring and diagnostic
devices, all the various clinic and hospital data sets into one platform
large and versatile enough to help us rise to the great Healthcare
challenge and turn it into a legendary opportunity for the future of
humanity.
IoIT and the Third Industrial Revolution: "One Foot in Today and
the Other in Tomorrow"
John Fleming, Former Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing
and Labor Affairs, Ford Motor Co.
This presentation starts to explore how Manufacturing and Business
Leaders should think about how to deliver on the current business
plans while preparing for the potential revolution that could change
Manufacturing forever. It asks the following questions, while further
featuring Ford's case study of the aluminium lightweighting
transformation of the company's F-150.
• How different will it really be?
• Who and What needs to change?
• What would the New Manufacturing World look like?
Future of Manufacturing
Muthukumar Viswanathan, Practice Head, Frost & Sullivan
European factories of the future will be driven by their ability to
leverage vital big data and utilise best-in-class information and
communication technologies on the shop floor. Hear about the
implications of modernisation in the age of Industry 4.0 and gain
strategic insight into how current government programmes are
dynamically transforming the manufacturing industry. This presentation
will address some of the critical questions that businesses involved in
Europe’s futuristic industrial market are asking.
Digital Transformation in the Energy Sector
John Raspin, Partner, Energy & Environment, Frost & Sullivan
The energy sector has traditionally been slow to embrace advances in
technology. However, the advent of disruptive forces such as
distributed energy and the movement towards smarter grids is making
it imperative for utilities to act now. The success of utilities is thus
dependent on aligning their needs with the digital innovation being
offered by the vendor companies.
According to Frost & Sullivan, 100 million more women will join the
global labour force by 2025. In the same timeframe, the gap between
female and male labour participation will reduce by 25 per cent. These
developments affect additional earnings and wealth, making women
THINGS IS TRANSFORMING THE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL
CEO
Sanjay Brahmawar, Global Head & Managing Partner Strategic
Business Development, IBM Watson Internet of Things
The Internet of Things is fundamentally changing the way businesses
create value, companies compete and partner, and consumers
experience the world. The digitization of nearly everything is opening
new opportunities for insight, relevance, and competitive edge.
Manufacturing equipment can tell you when it needs maintenance,
consumer products can tell you how people are actually using them
and what’s in demand. Yet so much of the data being generated by
connected devices is never captured or acted upon—it is too
challenging to manage and analyze, especially in combination with other
data sources. Cognitive IoT systems help you make sense of all types
of data, and apply these insights to transform core business functions
and customer relationships.
