The world of work has become an increasingly difficult environment
for young people.Youth unemployment in Australia is persistently
higher than for other age groups, a large numbers of young

youth unemployment rate in Australia sits at 13.19 percent as of
June 2016. These situation highlights the continued importance of
government policy and program that focus on young people’s
transitions to employment in Australia. But in addition to these, what
can young people do to solve this social issue?

Young job seekers should findi and make use of a
variety of tools, where available, to help them find

Formal education curricula are often overly theoretical, leaving
students feeling ill­prepared and lacking the necessary practical

opportunities to gain work experience and improve employment
prospects, including in entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship

an important and effective means to overcome high
unemployment rates and poor working conditions, but also the
leading source of job creation and sustainable growth.
Be confident and optimistic
Many youth conveyed a lack of confidence in their futures.
However, there was broad agreement that self­motivation,
dedication, patience and a positive outlook are key elements
of successful job searching.
