There I was waiting outside the
front of Mrs Harding's office
trying as hard as I could to get
the School Captain role I so
desperately wanted. I knew I
had tough competition in Jordan
and Callum. I realised I would
just have to take deep breaths
even though my heart was
beating at a million miles an
hour. With Zac, Rhianna, Mrs
Harding and Mrs Vines calling
us in 1 by 1, they asked us
questions about why and how
we wanted to be School
Captain.
A few weeks later we found out
who had earnt the role as
School Captain. I couldn't
believe it when I was elected as
the School Captain of 2016. The
greatest part though was that
the other two got their 2nd
choice of House/Sport captain.
My advice for next year's School
Captains is: - You must do the
things you think you cannot do.
I was standing there with my
eyes closed, waiting to feel if I
was going to get the tap on my
shoulder. I was over the moon,
and all it took was a tap on my
shoulder. I was officially the
2016 School Captain. Being
School Captain isn`t about
bossing people around, it`s an
honour to be able to do things
that most people don`t have a
chance to do. Even the little
things like raising the Australian
flag, presenting awards, saying
the Karoo Oath and more, it all
just lights me up inside. Mum
always told me not to be a
sheep and follow everyone else,
so instead I reached for the
stars, and I reached the moon.
