NONE OF THE ABOVE
I’ve thought long
and hard and even
scratched my head
about the recent Presidential
election and
I’ve had a AHA! Moment.
How did Donald
Trump get elected?
I told everybody he
would lose in the electoral
college but, he
fooled not only me
but also all the talking
heads on the tube got it
wrong, way wrong.
So how did all the
pundits and wanna be
pundits like me get it
wrong?
After all isn’t the
lesser of two evils still
evil? You bet it is.
What I believe we
saw election night
was what I call the
,”NONE OF THE
ABOVE VOTE”.
This came about because
of two factors.
Number one, Most
people did not vote
in the primary election,
as a matter of
fact The Online publication
Texas Tribune
said , “Texas still had
the second lowest voting-age
participation
rate of all that have
held both Democratic
and Republican primaries
so far, behind only
Louisiana.
Now, to me the primaries
are far more
important than the
general election.
Why? During the
primary, you actually
have a voice in the
choosing of our candidates.
In the general
election you are rubber
stamping your parties
selection.
So, if you didn’t vote
in the primary, or the
general election you
don’t have a right to
gripe, moan or complain.
If you don’t like the
way the government is
treating you then get
involved at the grassroots
level and make a
difference.
I voted in both the
primary and general
election. I didn’t vote
so much for the winner
as I did against the
loser.
I did not particularly
like our candidate
but I did research on
his running mate and
found I could at least
support him.
You have to do your
due diligence and not
just rubber stamp your
parties candidate.
A side note, this is not
the first time presidential
candidates have
slimed each other with
nasty comments.
There are plenty of
examples in history of
candidates that have
shown less class than
the two recent candidates.
For example, Leonard
“Live Forever” Jones
Years active: 1840s –
1860s
Founder and sole
member of the “High
Moral” party, Jones
was an eccentric who
insisted he was immortal.
He ran in every
presidential election
from the early 1840s
through the 1860s.
When Abraham Lincoln
was assassinated,
Jones said it was in
divine punishment for
voters not electing him
to the presidency. Jones
drew large crowds to
his speeches, during
which he would jump
around waving a hickory
cane and pounding
it on a table. Sadly, he
failed to live up to his
beliefs, dying in 1868
at the age of 71.
In more recent memory,
Homer Tomlinson
Years active: 1952,
1960, 1964, 1968.
Tomlinson founded
the Church of God
and gave himself the
title of bishop. He also
founded the Theocratic
Party and planned to
bring about the kingdom
of God on earth
by getting members of
his church elected to
public office. His platform
consisted of replacing
taxes with tithing,
establishing Bible
studies and prayer
in schools and creating
a variety of faithbased
cabinet posts,
including “Secretary
of Righteousness” and
“Secretary of the Holy
Bible.”
After never coming
close to winning a
presidential election,
he set his sights on
an even higher office.
In the mid 1960s he
moved to Jerusalem
and began donning a

primaries, LaRouche
received 53,280 votes
— 22 percent of the

to his campaign
than any other
candidate until John
Kerry surpassed him
in the final quarter of
the primary campaign.
He also launched the
LaRouche movement,
a network that promotes
his ideas, including
the colonization
of Mars.
Wow! Talki about out

this most recent election
was not so strange
after all.
