book Probable Tomorrows (Cetron & Davies, 1997) attempts to think ahead 20 years in medicine, science, and<br />
technology. The authors correctly predicted some future events (e.g., Digital Everything), but o<strong>the</strong>rs have yet to occur<br />
(e.g., Simple Cancer Cures). Similarly, education experts and observers engage in <strong>the</strong> same predictive exercises, trying<br />
to identify future trends. Recently, Teaching 2030 reviewed current trends and provides a vision <strong>of</strong> a probable tomorrow<br />
for public schools. To create <strong>the</strong> public schools all students deserve, today and tomorrow, <strong>the</strong> authors call on<br />
policymakers and <strong>the</strong> public to work with teachers by (Teaching 2030, 2011, para. 8-9):<br />
Creating a dynamic and flexible learning environment for students and teachers, and powerful new ways to define and<br />
measure school success; Transforming public education through digital technologies while reinventing brick and mortar<br />
school buildings into 24/7 hubs <strong>of</strong> community support for students and families; Re-imagining teaching as a<br />
well-compensated career with many pathways, assuring that every child has qualified and effective teachers and that<br />
teaching expertise is constantly spread, in and out cyberspace; and Establishing a new leadership force <strong>of</strong> 600,000<br />
teacher preneurs, classroom experts who continue to teach students regularly while also serving as teacher educators,<br />
policy researchers, community organizers, and trustees <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir pr<strong>of</strong>ession. Initial Post: Choosing one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four<br />
predicted trends listed above, provide at least three possible paths your prediction could take on <strong>the</strong> road to fruition by<br />
2030 using strategic thinking strategies (The Six Key Elements <strong>of</strong> Strategic Thinking, 2013). In your post, evaluate which<br />
<strong>of</strong> your ideas you predict is most likely to occur, supporting your thoughts through citation <strong>of</strong> historical precedents and<br />
educational trends.<br />
