EGCE 406: Bridge Design
Homework 1 (Due Tuesday, June 22 nd 2010)
Use the internet or online journals to search for information of a bridge. It can
be a new or old bridge, but should be a unique one. Prepare an A4 (2-sides)
summary sheet of the bridge listing the details of the bridges, the concepts and
design considerations, technical difficulty during the design or constructions,
structural system, materials used, etc.
All the sources used (pictures, or details) shall be cited in the references list at the
end of the sheet.
Make the summary sheet interesting because all the submitted work will be exhibited
in front of the department for all people to see for 2 weeks. A simple mock-up
example is shown below. You are free to choose any layout or design you want (be
creative!!!).
The summary sheet shall be color-printed on a 180-gram white card paper.
Recommended programs for this purpose are (in the order of preference): Adobe
Illustrator/ Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Microsoft
Word is not recommended because it’s difficult to do complex layout.
