类 产 业 效 率 。2015 年 , 中 华 人 民 共 和 国 住 房 和
城 乡 建 设 部 提 出 发 展 目 标 , 期 望 建 筑 行 业 在
2020 年 年 底 前 掌 握 建 筑 资 讯 模 型 (「BIM」)
技 术 的 应 用 与 企 业 管 理 系 统 。BIM 是 一 项 制 作
建 筑 物 3D 模 型 的 技 术 , 提 供 共 享 数 据 和 有 关

DESIGN
Technology not only improves people’s living but also
boosts industrial efficiency. In 2015, the Ministry of
Housing and Urban-Rural Development of PRC introduced
its development goal: the construction industry should
master the application of Building Information Modelling
(“BIM”) and BIM management system by the end of 2020.
BIM is a digital 3D-model based technology that captures
a wealth of shared data with information on a facility’s
life cycle. It can generate a diversity of information
such as floor plans and perspective drawings before
actual construction, so as to minimise possible errors
and facilitate multi-disciplinary cooperation through
visualisation of construction details. As the BIM system is
loaded with a huge volume of project data, the prevalence
of BIM symbolises the arrival of big data era in the building
industry.

APPLICATION
LWK has gained nearly 10 years of hands-on BIM
experience and has applied the technology in early stages
of projects to develop architectural concept design as well
as later-stage General Building Plans (“GBP”) submissions
to Hong Kong Buildings Department. It is noteworthy that
at the leading edge of technology development, LWK is
the first Hong Kong architectural design practice that uses
BIM to complete GBP submissions. Currently, our staff
members in LWK Hong Kong, China and the Philippines
offices all possess the technical expertise in using BIM
software.
LWK’s mastery in BIM is highly recognised in the industry.
Our Director Mr. Paul Ng, Director Mr. William Cheung and
Senior Associate Mr. Bosco Kwan were guest speakers in

RESEARCH AND
INNOVATION
In response to latest architectural design trend, LWK
established a research department in August 2017 and
has appointed world-renowned designer Mr. Erik Amir
to head up the department. Erik is a Registered Architect
(DPLG) in France, and his work has been recognised
by the Emerging New York Architects Committee and
American Institute of Architects New York. His design
portfolio includes World Trade Center Memorial in the
US and multiple world-class projects in China.
Erik conducts extensive research on global design
trends and technology development to help enhance
the company’s responsiveness to the market needs.
Meanwhile, he also organises regular design workshops
to stimulate our young designers’ creative minds and
to encourage them to re-imagine the possibilities of
design.

LWK’s commercial design team keeps abreast of recent
development in retail and entertainment, commerce,
sustainability and design techniques so that the best
possible solution could be provided to enhance retail
experience. To further strengthen the company’s in-house
design capabilities, we welcomed award-winning architect
Mr. Ferdinand Cheung, to lead the company’s commercial
design sector as a Director in July 2017. At present,
Ferdinand and his team are working on several largescale
mixed-use projects and are devoted to elevating
commercial design to a whole new level.

Our landscape team provides services such as Landscape

Visual Impact Assessment, covering a broad range of

URBAN DESIGN
Owing to the heightened awareness of environmental
protection in China, President Xi Jinping proposed at the
19th National Congress that the country should embark
on the path of green development and emphasised the
importance of ecological protection. LWK and BMEDI are
now reviewing the existing industry planning approach by
changing the development objective from putting stress on
speed, quantity and residential development to underlining
sustainability, ecological protection and technological
innovation. Currently, our Planning & Urban Design
Director Mr. Jason Ho and his team are participating in the
design of the Jiande High-speed Railway New Area. Jointly
developed by Jiande Government and Beijing Enterprises
Group Real-Estate Co., Ltd, the area would be transformed
into a pastoral city with humanistic and ecological beauty.
Since the announcement of strategic partnership, Jason
Ho and his team has brought about cultural integration
with BMEDI. Together they explore business models which
could represent cultural traits of East and West to suit
Asian countries; and together they seize opportunities that
are brought by “One Belt One Road”.

得 了 2017 联 合 国 教 科 文 组 织 亚 太 区 文 化 遗 产 保 护 奖 (「UNESCO Asia-Pacific」) 的 最 高 荣 誉

The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal and the Blue House Cluster, two of the conservation
and restoration projects, won Special Jury Award at MIPIM Asia Awards in 2016 and 2017
consecutively. Furthermore, the Blue House Cluster won the Award of Excellence at 2017
UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards. It is the first Hong Kong project that receives the highest honour
since the awards’ establishment in 2000.

COMMUNITY
Besides looking for business opportunities, LWK also
contributes to the society and takes corporate social
responsibility by actively participating in community
services. This year for the first time, we participated
in a public furniture exhibition organised by Hong
Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. Together with
the students from Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui St.
Simon’s Sai Kung Nursery School, we finished a piece
of public furniture and contributed the company’s
profession to the community.
