EFFECT OF CHANGE OF LAND USE PATTERN ON FLOOD IN THE PALEMBANG CITY
OF PALEMBANG
Abstract
Urban problems from year to year are increasingly complex as the pace of development as a
consequence of land-use change. The impacts resulting from changes in land use from green space to
wakeful areas will affect the ability of soil water absorption, and water quality throughout the Flow Area
River (DAS). Watershed Areas Fruit is prone to flooding and including critical watersheds in the city of
Palembang. The cause of flooding in the watershed because of the conversion of green open space into
residential areas. This study aims to find out how big the effect of changes in land use patterns from 2000-
2017 can affect flooding in the Palembang City Fruit Watershed.
The method used is quantitative descriptive by using analysis of overlay analysis and supported by
data from field observation, documentation, and interview to know the distribution of point of flood location
in Fruit DAS from the change of land use.
The result of overlay analysis shows the change of land use in Fruit Watershed for 17 years is 25,
74%. Flood point location in Fruit River in 2012 as many as 34 location points and increased in 2017 as
many as 38 points flooded locations with different frequencies.
