An all-American favorite<br />
Set the washer and dryer <strong>to</strong> the hottest<br />
sett<strong>in</strong>g suitable for <strong>you</strong>r items.<br />
Mention <strong>to</strong> dry clean<strong>in</strong>g service that the<br />
items may have <strong>bed</strong> <strong>bug</strong>s <strong>to</strong> keep them <strong>in</strong><br />
the plastic bags until the dry-clean<strong>in</strong>g starts.<br />
Exam<strong>in</strong>e all suitcases and shoes thoroughly<br />
and place them <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> plastic bags as well.<br />
Hand-wash them with hot (100°F <strong>to</strong> 120°F)<br />
soapy water. Use a scrub brush along the<br />
folds and seams..<br />
You can heat some items. Two-hour core<br />
exposure at 120°F (45°C) is a m<strong>in</strong>imum<br />
target temperature.<br />
To freeze s<strong>to</strong>re the items <strong>in</strong> a deep<br />
freezer for a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 5- 10 days at<br />
23°F (-5°C) or 2 days <strong>to</strong> -15°F (-26°C).<br />
Anyth<strong>in</strong>g that can be washed should be sorted<br />
and placed <strong>in</strong> plastic bags. Before bagg<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
separate cloth<strong>in</strong>g as they will go <strong>to</strong> the dryer and<br />
wash<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>e. That will prevent escap<strong>in</strong>g <strong>bed</strong><br />
<strong>bug</strong>s while sort<strong>in</strong>g the laundry at home.<br />
