Almond flour: Another ingredient that makes this recipe healthy is almond<br />
flour. Almond flour is high in protein and low in carbs and as a result<br />
makes a better substitute for all-purpose flour.<br />
Recipe Ingredients:<br />
1 cup Almond flour<br />
½-cup whole-wheat flour<br />
1/3-cup unsalted butter<br />
¼ tsp baking powder<br />
50 ml Maple syrup<br />
Salt, a pinch<br />
Cardamom powder to taste<br />
Method:<br />
1. Preheat oven to 355 degree F. Line a baking sheet with parchment<br />
paper.<br />
2. In a bowl, mix together butter and maple syrup. Next, add whole<br />
wheat and almond flours and mix gently.<br />
3. Mix in the baking soda, cardamom powder and salt.<br />
4. Form the dough into tablespoon rounds and place on the lined baking<br />
sheet about 3 inches apart. (Garnish cookies with almonds but this is<br />
optional)<br />
5. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown around edges. Cool<br />
and enjoy!<br />
These cookies are best enjoyed the day they are baked.<br />
NOTES:<br />
1. You can use coconut oil in place of butter in this recipe.<br />
2. You may cut down the use of whole wheat flour if you wish for grain<br />
free cookies.<br />
3. Coconut sugar is another good alternative to cane sugar in this recipe.<br />
