Audible’s Mission in Terms of Community Engagement

We strive to be a company that is part of the improvement of people’s lives. We focus tirelessly on

our customers—Audible listeners as well as writers and actors—in order to provide the best possible

listening experience. We also work to improve the lives of those without privilege in the cities and

countries in which we operate, and we celebrate diversity across our global operation.

The US team has put together some guidelines, based on both the tenet above and their substantial

learnings from the work in Newark:

(1) Audible’s core social impact mission is helping improve the lives of those without privilege,

especially youth in the cities and countries in which we operate, with improved educational and career

opportunities;

(2) Audible’s ideal program leverages both our people and our product, to both maximize employee

engagement and leverage our diverse talent and technological strengths;

(3) Our ideal initiative also presents opportunity to scale, so that Audible’s social impact innovations,

once launched and refined, can be efficiently replicated and expanded to positively impact the greatest

number of those without privilege;

(4) We will continue to devote significant emphasis and resources on launching and scaling initiatives

in Newark that have a measurable positive impact on our headquarters city, but will similarly position

our global sites as parallel innovation laboratories for experimentation and invention that can

provide insight and learning for scalable impact;

(5) Our philanthropic financial support does not flow before direct engagement, but we are not afraid

to reinforce our commitment to social impact and community initiatives with double-down investment

to maximize results; and

(6) In order to focus on areas where we can have distinct impact, we do not accept unsolicited grant

requests.
