Function of designed hotel placed nearby Academic Sports Center of

Gdansk Univeristy of Technology was determined by its location. Possibility

of cooperation with surrounding buildings, serving as main accommodation

for guests arriving for often organised sports events became the main and

practical purpose of hotel existance.

Created concept based on:

• connection of opposite ends of the plot

• design a hybrid object between existing elements of urban tissue

• creating the earthwork slope going under the first floor, creating

COEXISTANCE OF INNER AND OUTER

• softening the slope of escarpment along Zwycięstwa Avenue leading

along the CONNECTION PATH

• the path CURVATURE CONTRASTING with simple, geometrical form

of the building

• COMPOSITIONAL CONNECTION of hotel object with the earthwork

by the net of planted trees which is continuation and expansion of

orthogonal column spacing.

RESIDENTS’ TYPOLOGIES ANALYSIS

Project area is the abandoned, partly green land in the

middle of the YAZD CITY IN IRAN. It is surrounded by

historical city tissue, adjacent to the Dowlatabad Garden.

The main attraction in this historical garden is the world

tallest adobe-made windcatcher, which caused the whole

garden area classified as UNESCO heritage site. The project,

located in the buffor zone, therefore needed to obey

specific rules.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN PATTERNS OF VILLAGE HOUSEHOLD DEVELOPMENT

RURAL ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING is the field

considered as neglected, which is resulting in villages being

NEGLECTED while planning.

The project was about analysing chosen village regarding

its landforms, various landscape forms, characteristics of

visual quality and value, historical spacial development,

urban interior composition, analysis of building forms and

their development. Main aim for us, as architects, was to

look at the village noticing all the SENSITIVE POINTS of

local stability and development, noticing the differences in

the CHARACTER AND HARMONY WITH NATURE, comparing

to the city.

VILLA VISCONTI BORROMEO ARESE LITTA known simply

as Villa Litta di Lainate is historic villa dating back to the

XVIth century. Nowadays, municipality as the owner needs

to effectively cope with the tresure and its maintainance.

Presented project focuses on one separate building named

LIMONAIA (Lemon House). It consists of historical analysis,

geometrical survey, material and deterioration mapping,

which all result in the design proposal of building and surrounding

PRESERVATION.

Competition project included concept for development

of former municipal cooperative area in Cedry

Wielkie with current abandoned state.

Proceeded analysis led us to the final idea for design:

• using CHARACTERISTIC historical building in type of

architecture from this particular polish region - ŻUŁAWY

• following local primary CORNFIELD DIVISION of plots.

It resulted in very CLEAR AND SIMPLE COMPOSITION

of urban development containing compact public buildings

and terraced residential houses.

INSPIRATION FOR BUILDINGS FORMS AND RELATIONS

between them were arcaded homesteads and Dutch

homesteads stages of expansion hisotrically common in

these geographical areas. For needs of the project,

they evolved into CONTEMPORARY FORMS

presented on hand drawn schemes below.

BIOPHILIA AND GREEN DESIGN FOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE PARK

CASTELSEPRIO was the site of a Roman fort in antiquity,

and a significant Lombard town in the early Middle Ages,

before being destroyed and abandoned in 1287. Today it is

preserved as an ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK, added in 2011

to UNESCO World Heritage List.

Main challanges of the project were to design a space:

• ATTRACTIVE FOR TOURIST

• FUNCTIONAL FOR ARCHAEOLOGISTS seasonally coming

there for excavations.

Both aims should be covered by the most important:

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPAMENT

• minimal impact - basing on the functions and circulation

analysis where adding elements were limited to reasonably

needed

• rain garden important for the landslide character, reducing

the surface runoff, creating conditions for new life

development

• solar energy pannels combined with the lightining which

also benefit in self-sufficient system not disturbing the

archaeological area with underground instalations

• permable boundaries alowing the natural ecosysytem to

thrive and reducing the impact on the environment.

Organic form as main principle of composition is extracted

from the surrounding dense forest. It also keeps project

boiphilic and nature oriented.

The design challenge was creation of the most efficient

and needed in current moment masterplan for very divided

district in Gdańsk City, in order to make it more liveable

for present and future inhabitants. Going through many

analyzes (among them: inventarisation; emotional impressions;

land use and development of functions; communication

and public spaces; problems and values of environment,

landscape and history), needs of the area appeared.

INTERDISCIPLINARY workshop combining strengths of

architects, urban planners, engineers and artists. Designing

challange was multiband road junction, which similarly to

the Mordor emptiness sourrounded grassy square remaining

in the middle with the building transformed into office

and workshops of architectural studio. The group task was

to create scenario of actions happening in the terrain. This

Project WATER-CROSS is located in the abandoned, degreded

area, attached to the main Ringroad encircling Milan

city. The challange was to COMBINE DISCIPLINES of

urban planning, architecture and technical design to lead

the project from the beginning to the end.

PARK GATEWAY STRATEGY CONCEPT & FOCUS AREA

CONCEPT - BARRIER FREE SPACE

The project was located in the city of Milan, covering the

area named Grande Parco Forlanini (GPF). Design challenge

was to propose the gateway strategy in the process of

three stages:

choosing the focus area to deepen the plan of strategy

timeline regarding the time of infrastructural changes

planned by Municipality of Milan

Connecting zones with similar functions

One most important characteristic of the area is

FRAGMENTATION into smaller areas operating almost

independently due to the LACK OF CONNECTIONS. Main

aims were to create a continuous flow in the park, connected

with communication and activities.

Main achievements of the designed system:

• connecting all the separate areas to perform as one

complex gateway from city center (West) to Idroscalo

(East)

• prividing easy and quick way of transition between

zones, which perform same dominant functions:

Z1 - Z3 and Z2 - Z4

• locating largest attracting actions on the western end,

where the new metro stations are planned

• focusing on the western end to solve the most important

part - ENTRANCE TO THE GATEWAY

Pojedynczy, wysoki budynek stojący w dużym oddaleniu od

Szeroka ulica łąkowa została optycznie zwężona poprzez

Wąska ulica Chłodna, obudowana i zacieniona kamienicami

Wychodząc na otwartą przestrzeń z ciesnej ulicy doświadczamy

Na niezagospodarowanym terenie dominują nieuporządkowane

1 innych skupia na sobie uwagę i przyciąga wzrok. 2 przedzielenie jej dwiema alejami drzew separującymi jej funkcje.. 3 ukazuje otwarcie krajobrazowe na jasną i przestronną zieleń. 4 jeszcze pewnych elementów ograniczenia widoku np płotu. 5 formy zieleni, zza których przebijają się pobliskie zabudowania. 6

Powstające nowe budynki mieszkalne swą linią zabudowy

dopasowują się do linii brzegu rzeki i towarzyszącej jej zieleni.

Za okalającą obszar rzeką widoczne są małe domki wśród

zieleni tworzące wspólnie widok o niemal wiejskim uroku.

Budynek otoczony parkingami o małym udziale zieleni, w oddali

widać zielone tereny dodające koloru obserwowanemu wnętrzu.
