OFFICIAL SPEECH FROM

Mr Kelvin Koh

Chairman of SISB School Governing Board

DRAFT

ON THE OCCASION OF THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF

MEDHIVISISTA BUILDING – 20 JULY 2023

Your Royal Highness, I, Kelvin Koh,

Chairman of the SISB School Governing

Board, together with our distinguished

guests, staff, parents and students,

would like to express our appreciation

to Your Royal Highness for honouring us

with your presence.

SISB has had the privilege of welcoming

Your Royal Highness on two occasions.

In June 2012 for the Grand Opening of

SISB Pracha Uthit; and in July 2018 for

the Opening Ceremony of Silpapirom

Creative Arts and Media Centre, a

name that was bestowed by Your Royal

Highness.

Today, we are delighted to have Your

Royal Highness here with us again for

the Opening Ceremony of Medhivisista

Building, a state-of-the-art academic

compound at SISB Thonburi. We

are honoured to have the name of

Medhivisista bestowed by Her Royal

Highness, which means “Scholars with a

spirit of excellence”.

SISB Thonburi started in 2017, the

fourth SISB school in Thailand. The

opening of SISB schools in different

locations is in line with our vision to be

the leading education provider, making

quality education accessible to all.

To cater to the strong support from our

community, a modern academic building

was added in August 2021. This new

phase has modern facilities such as

a performance-standard auditorium,

full-fledged gymnasium, classrooms

and science laboratories. There is a

great emphasis on nature, and allowing

students to connect with their natural

environment. This combination of nature

and nurture allows SISB to maximise the

potential of every student.

Our school community has donated to

Your Royal Highness’s “Fund for the

Development of Children and Youth in

Remote Area” project, in gratitude for

the support of Your Royal Highness.

We look forward to providing holistic

education to even more students in

the years to come, and develop them

to become scholars, leaders and global

citizens.

On today’s auspicious occasion, we

would like to express our heartfelt

appreciation to Your Royal Highness

for honouring us with your visit, and for

presiding over this ceremony.

Dot Day Celebration

On 15 September 2022 SISB joined

International Dot Day along with

millions of people around the world

connecting, collaborating, creating

and celebrating creativity and

courage.

The Dot is a story of a teacher who

dares a doubting student to trust in

her abilities and “make her mark”.

Her mark is a small dot on a piece of

paper. What started as just a dot -

became a symbol of taking that first

step; being creative takes courage.

Across all sections, NK, Primary and

Sixth Form, we had a wonderful day

of creating, inspiring and thinking

outside the box.

THAIMUN Conference

SISB Thonburi celebrates

its first-ever participation in

THAIMUN, a mock United Nations

program in Bangkok. Students

gained diplomatic skills, global

awareness, and critical thinking,

engaging with peers from Asia

and America. Milan Sudfa Niyom

received awards for Best Delegate.

Excitement builds for future

THAIMUN conferences.

Nursery 1 Picnic Day

Fun in the sun with our little ones!

DRAFT

Our Nursery 1 students had a blast on their picnic day,

enjoying snacks, games, and quality time with their

friends and teachers. Here’s to more happy memories

and adventures together!

As N1 is learning all about Healthy Living, part of that

is being outdoors when the Air Quality is good and

snacking on some healthy food. So why not have a

picnic!?!

We sang songs and we were communicators and

thinkers as we recalled the healthy food and the

unhealthy food that the Very Hungry Caterpillar ate.

Parent-Teacher Partnership

The significance of the parent-teacher partnership

in education cannot be overstated. It forms the

foundation for a child’s success by fostering open

lines of communication, collaboration, and shared

responsibility. When parents and teachers work

together, they can identify and address a student’s

academic and developmental needs more effectively.

This collaboration ensures consistent expectations,

early intervention, and the provision of holistic support,

leading to improved academic performance, personal

growth, and overall well-being. The parent-teacher

partnership is a powerful force that nurtures students’

potential, builds a strong educational community, and

ultimately sets them up for a lifetime of success.

Recognizing the importance of this connection, SISB

Thonburi actively promotes constant parents and

teachers meetings and sports activities to further

strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and

students.
