with the ever-developing world wide web, more and more 

customers are taking advantage of the convenience of online ticket 

booking. air macau has made updating its online booking system a 

top priority. being the hub of transportation for greater china, special 

adjustments to deal with the different currencies are needed. Thanks to 

the hard work of our air macau online team, we launched our online 

ticketing service for macau back on 10 June 2008. Taiwan access followed 

this past february, and beijing and shanghai access were activated in 

august. b2b and b2c online ticketing services will continue to be 

developed for all destinations of air macau.

本期的《澳門航空雜誌》,網羅澳門10、11月的盛事。先由 

澳門國際音樂節說起,讓澳門樂團細述古典音樂之二三事;再與 

一眾車手和賽車女郎一起回顧、展望澳門格蘭披治大賽車的盛

隨著電子商務的迅速發展,網上購票以其方便快捷而越來越 

受到航空公司乘客的青睞。澳門航空也把開通網上購票系統作 

為頭等重要的工作。地處大中華交通樞紐上的澳門航空比較特 

殊,由於主要客源來自兩岸三地,匯率兌換、付款系統各有不 

同,為網上購票系統的設置、運營都帶來一定的難度。澳門航 

空組成工作團隊進行項目攻關。於2008年6月10日澳門地區的 

網上購票系統成功上線;2009年2月23日,台灣地區網上購票 

系統啟動。2009年8月,北京、上海網絡購票系統啟動,到年 

底,B2B、B2C電子網絡售票系統會在澳門航空內地所有航點陸 

續投產,為內地來澳門的旅客提供了方便的購票渠道。

a need for speed grips the city as drivers and 

grid girls gear up for the 56th annual Macau Grand Prix

André Couto is always ready for a good race. Ever 

since he was a little boy growing up in Macau, he 

would challenge other kids on his street to see who 

was the fastest on their bikes or skateboards. The city’s 

most decorated professional driver now races full 

time in Japan’s Super GT, and considers himself a big 

kid with big toys. He is psyched for this year’s Macau 

Grand Prix, relishing the chance to compete again 

on what he considers the world’s most challenging 

Formula 3 street circuit. 

“The Macau Grand Prix is very special,” says Couto. “It’s 

the best of Formula 3 – it is the sport’s world cup. Being a 

street circuit, it gives me a buzz. It keeps me always on the 

edge. If I want to win, I have to keep close to the walls. It is 

also over six kilometres long, while a large track would be 

four to five kilmetres in most Formula 1 races. The g-force 

can get as high as 3.3; it’s like being on a rollercoaster. But 

on a rollercoaster, people are screaming for only a few 

minutes. The Grand Prix race is an hour long.”

「它是全球最佳的三級方程式賽車,可視為賽車的 

的『世界盃』。街頭環道賽車給我極大的快感,我 

必須保持在道路外緣飆速,如果我想贏,我就得儘 

量靠近邊牆。澳門的車道超過6公里長,一般一級方 

程式賽車等級的大型比賽車道大約4至5公里長。澳 

門車道的引力可高達3.3,那就像是坐在過山車上, 

但過山車不過幾分鐘的時間,尖叫驚呼一陣便結束 

了,但格蘭披治賽車的時間卻長達一小時!」 

第56屆格蘭披治大賽車剛好遇上澳門特別行政 

區成立十週年,主辦單位結合賽車籌劃了一連串的 

慶祝活動,這項澳門年度盛事將在四天裡結合三大 

國際賽事:澳門格蘭披治三級方程式大賽車、FIA世 

界房車錦標賽,以及澳門格蘭披治電單車大賽。

The 56th annual Grand Prix coincides with the 10th 

anniversary of the Macau SAR, and the organisers have 

a number of events planned to mark the celebrations 

both on and off the track. Macau’s annual extravaganza 

is unique because it combines three international races 

over four days: the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, the 

FIA World Touring Car Championship and the Macau 

Motorcycle Grand Prix. 

“The Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix has long been 

recognised as the breeding ground for future Formula 1 

stars,” says a spokesperson with the Macau Grand Prix 

Committee. “Sixteen of this year’s Formula 1 World 

Championship drivers have raced at Macau. Many 

others, such as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, 

David Coulthard, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, 

were launched onto the international motor sport 

world stage at Macau.” 

Eurico de Jesus is an amateur racer who has not 

missed a single CTM Macau Touring Car Race since 

2002. His love affair with cars began when he was 

a kid, and he studied automotive engineering as a 

way to indulge his passion. When he isn’t racing in 

Asian meets with Five Auto Racing Team, he owns 

and operates Five Auto Centre Acessorios Para 

Automovel. Like Couto, he finds the Guia circuit 

extremely demanding, but it is also his favourite. “It 

has everything: high and low speed corners, hairpin 

turns, stretches where I can go really fast,” he says. 

“I remember being very nervous the first few years I 

was racing, but now, I’m much more relaxed. I enjoy it 

more because I feel like I have nothing to prove.”

是一級方程式賽車新星的搖籃。」澳門格蘭披治 

大賽車委會員一位發言人說道:「今年世界盃一 

級方程式賽車的選手有16名曾經在澳門出賽,其 

他像冼拿(Ayrton Senna)、舒密加(Michael 

Schumacher)、古達(David Coulthard)、畢頓 

(Jenson Button)、咸姆頓(Lewis Hamilton)等 

賽車名手,也曾在澳門賽車舞台上大展身手。」 

積薩斯(Eurico de Jesus)是業餘賽車手中的 

老將,從2002年起從未缺席澳門電訊盃房車大賽, 

他從小就與車子結下濃厚情緣,為了全情投入,他 

還特別選擇就讀汽車工程。像古圖一樣,他發現澳 

門東望洋跑道相當吃力,卻也是他最喜歡的賽車跑 

道。「它擁有賽車的一切挑戰難度:高速與低速彎 

道、U型彎道、能全速衝飆的直路。」他說:「我記 

得頭幾年在這裡賽車時有多緊張,但是現在,我已 

經能放鬆比賽了,我更能享受賽車的快樂,是因為 

覺得自己已經沒必要再證實什麼了。」 

為了令身心準備好全力應付賽事,古圖必須健 

身、跑步。「跑步是最佳的體能訓練,」他透露, 

「因為跑步超無聊!差不多跑了15分鐘,我就想放 

棄不跑,因為覺得看不到終點。跑步可以訓練堅強 

的意志。」積薩斯則以騎單車加上健身房來訓練

De Jesus keeps himself fit with bike rides and going 

to the gym. “It is very hot racing in Asia,” he notes. “It 

can be 40-50°C in the car, with our uniform and gear 

on. Everyone looks so professional and cool, but we 

are mostly sweating buckets inside the cars waiting 

for a race to start! I have to be in very good shape to 

endure the pressure.” 

Couto also keeps his mind and body focused for the 

demands of racing by going to the gym and running. 

“Running is the best sport for training,” he reveals, 

“because it is boring! I want to quit after 15 minutes 

because I feel like I can’t see the end. This trains my 

mind to be strong.” 

Along with the drivers and the gorgeous cars, Macau’s 

grid girls also attract a fair share of attention at the Grand 

Prix. These young ladies are like walking-and-talking 

billboards for advertisers, although their main duty is to 

identify cars for the starting line-up. Thirty girls represented 

Canon last year, including Monique Mak. “It was a very

得賽車在亞洲並未受到足夠的重視,「在香港、澳 

門,跑車被認為是公子哥兒燒錢的玩意,」積薩斯 

嘆道,「在歐洲,賽車是非常普遍的運動,這是東 

西文化極大的差異處。如果我負擔得起,我會一直 

投入賽車活動!」

The multi-ethnic Macao Orchestra finds 

harmony with the city’s colonial heritage

Aside from being cultural-heritage hot spots, what do 

The Dom Pedro V Theatre, St Dominic’s Church, and St 

Joseph’s Seminary have in common? They’re all music 

venues. For audiences and performers – such as the Macao 

Orchestra – being at such historic cultural venues adds a 

profound depth to the experience. 

According to Macao Orchestra Music Director and 

Principal Conductor Lu Jia, Macau has been the meeting 

point of Eastern and Western culture throughout its 

history, and this rich tradition has benefited the local 

development of classical music. In addition, the orchestra 

has always benefited from support from the government, 

which makes inviting overseas musicians – orchestras and 

artists – easier.

澳門的崗頂劇院、玫瑰堂和聖若瑟修院除了是世界文 

化遺產外,還有甚麼共通之處?原來它們除了見證了 

澳門的歷史發展,也是音樂表演場地,觀眾和表演者 

置身其中,別有一番感受。經常有機會在文化遺產中 

表演的澳門樂團成員,更有特別深刻的體會。 

澳門樂團音樂總監兼首席指揮呂嘉認為,澳門數 

百年來一直是中西文化的交匯點,這個傳統有利古典 

音樂在本地的發展,而且澳門樂團也一直得到政府的 

支持,可以從海外聘請音樂家加盟,以及邀請世界有 

名的音樂家和樂團合作演出,從而提升樂團的水平。 

「現在澳門樂團一天比一天進步,而且觀眾的水平也 

愈來愈高,我們會推出更多古典音樂推廣活動,例 

如『古典音樂入門速成音樂會』、『兒童節音樂會』 

等,令公眾學會欣賞古典音樂。」

“The quality of the Macao Orchestra, along with 

audience expectation, is increasing by the day,” says 

Lu. “We will continue to promote and market classical 

performances. For example, ‘A Shortcut to Classical Music’ 

and ‘Children’s Day Concert’ are two events that will 

enable the learning public to become more familiar with 

classical music.” 

Lu and trumpet player David Rouault, both wine 

enthusiasts, are discussing the art of wine-tasting while 

waiting for their photo shoot. A fan of red wine, Lu says he 

has over 400 types in an Italian winery. “Red wine is like 

music – there’s no limit to it. Sipping a wine at different 

times in different environments gives it a different taste,” 

he says, adding that music needs to be defined and aged 

similarly. “Macao Orchestra is in a growing stage. It’s still 

being moulded, and I’m hoping it will one day become a 

world-class chamber orchestra,” he says. 

So just how does Lu plan 

to mould the orchestra? “I’m 

usually quite easy-going 

except when it comes to 

music – I’m quite persistent,” 

he says with a smile. “I 

hope the others play music 

because it’s their love, not 

because it’s their work!” 

Two veterans of the 

orchestra – French native 

Rouault and the Macau-born 

and raised Kuong Pou-lei – would probably agree with Lu. 

Rouault is an award-winning, accomplished trumpet 

player from France. His awards include a first prize for 

trumpet from the National Music School in Montreuil, 

France, and he was unanimously awarded the Excellency 

Prize for Trumpet Player by the Rueil-Malmaison in 

France. He is currently Head of Trumpet in the Macao 

Orchestra. While performing in France, Rouault played 

with Europeans of similar background; but here the Macao 

Orchestra features a diverse international crew. The 41 

members come from across the globe, including the US, 

England, Russia, China and South Africa. 

To explore the culture of Macau, Rouault often ride his 

motorcycle across the city, visiting antique shops along the 

way. “To be able to play music and leave a legacy – that’s 

why I’ve stayed here so many years,” says Rouault.

澳門樂團正處於成長的階 

段,可塑性很高 

人都愛紅酒,呂嘉更透露他在意大利的酒庫已儲藏了 

400多瓶美酒!「紅酒就如音樂,有無限的可能性,在 

不同的時間、不同的環境下喝會有不同的味道。」他 

續指,音樂也是需要時間浸淫的,澳門樂團正處於成 

長的階段,沒有傳統的包袱,可塑性很高,有望在將 

來成為世界級的室樂團。 

至於呂嘉是用甚麼方法來鞭策團員呢?他笑說: 

「我平時滿隨和的,只有在音樂上堅持,我希望大 

家和我一樣,為興趣而演奏,而非因為這是他們的工 

作,因為音樂不是工作!」來自法國的小號手大衛. 

胡歐和在澳門土生土長的大提琴家鄺葆莉都是澳門樂 

團的元老級人馬,相信他們最能理解呂嘉的意思。 

大衛是法國有名的小號演奏家,曾獲多個大獎, 

包括法蘭西蒙特婁國家音樂學院小號比賽冠軍(1990 

年)、巴黎國家高等音樂學院室內樂演奏第一名 

(1997年)等,現時是澳門樂團首席小號。大衛以 

往在法國演奏,同伴多是文化背景相近的歐洲人, 

但澳門樂團是一個國際化的 

樂團,41名成員來自五湖四 

海,包括美國、英國、俄羅 

斯、中國、南非等。 

大衛不諱言,澳門獨有的 

文化氣息令他著迷,因此他 

經常騎摩托車環遊澳門、逛 

古董店。「能夠表演音樂和 

流傳後世,可能就是我留在 

這個小城市多年的原因。」 

至於「土產」大提琴家鄺 

葆莉,生於音樂世家,在父 

親的薰陶下,十歲起便開始學習大提琴,她形容自己 

能加入澳門樂團非常榮幸,就像夢想成真。「每個在 

澳門學音樂的人也以加入樂團為目標,想不到我真的 

能夠成功,因此我會用心把好音樂帶給觀眾。」呂嘉 

也對鄺葆莉的努力十分讚賞:「排練時一定要人在心 

在,葆莉不但用心練習,也會感染身邊的人。」 

鄺葆莉現時除了練團外,便全身投入音樂教育工 

作,有十多個學生,她又會到學校舉行音樂會,向年 

輕一代推廣古典音樂。「以前比較少人學古典音樂, 

有街坊看我拿著大提琴,都以為那是個大結他。不過 

現在已大大不同,愈來愈多人懂得欣賞古典音樂。」 

今年是澳門樂團第七個樂季,也是呂嘉坐鎮的第 

二個樂季,自上月起,有不少知名音樂家會來澳門, 

包括鋼琴詩人傅聰、大提琴家王健、小提琴家黃蒙拉 

等,他們會在澳門歷史城區舉辦三場「教堂精點」音 

樂會,讓觀眾可同時欣賞音樂和歷史建築。

2009年4月27日,由澳門中華瑰寶鑒賞交流協會、以及雅文古美術主辦的展覽館於澳門四季酒店正式開幕。 

澳門中華瑰寶鑒賞交流協會自成立以來,融合了來自日本、香港、臺灣及本澳等地多名資深收藏家。首次展 

品均為年代悠久、且具有相當市場價值的珍品,當中包括商周的獸面紋壺、斝、鼎、爵杯,東周後 

期的金銀器,北齊的漢白玉石壁等等,展品造型獨特,將古代能工巧將的鬼斧神工表露無遺。 

1. 獸首鳳紋蓋爵杯商代晚期通高:20釐米 

蓋前做獸首形,中部有弦紋環,後端飾鳳鳥紋,火紋頂柱, 

象首 ,腹飾直條紋,上下各飾一圈斜向雲雷紋,流下飾龍紋, 

尾下飾鳳紋,三棱錐實心足,紋飾精美。 

2. 純金鑲嵌寶石帶鉤西漢時期長:24釐米 

帶鉤正面採用純金浮雕,前,後部飾龍頭圖案,中部龍身有數條 

小龍纏繞,並鑲有三顆琉璃珠。帶鉤嘴用瑪瑙圓雕成龍頭。帶鉤 

四邊鑲有紅寶石及綠松石。帶鉤底部滿錯金銀幾何圖案,結構複 

雜,紋飾華麗,製作精良,實為驚世之作。

I love weekends in Hangzhou. Friday night sees a group of 

us spoil ourselves with some excellent authentic Punjabi 

cuisine at recently opened Moksh Indian Cuisine (39 Jie 

Fang Road, +86 571 8770 0782). After dinner there are a 

number of hotspots to visit, from the newly refurbished 

Vogue Club G-Plus on Bao Chu Road, to SOS at Huang 

Long Centre. There is also the infamous Shu Guang Road 

with numerous bars full of locals and local expats. Saturdays 

are for going to West Lake. The best way to get away from 

the crowds is either on a bicycle along the Su Di causeway 

or take a ride on one of many electrical golf cart-like vehicles 

circling the lake for RMB10. The Sofitel Hotel (333 West 

Lake Avenue, +86 571 8707 5858) also provides great lunch 

on its sixth-floor Yong Jin Ge Restuarant, with splendid 

views of the West Lake. On Sundays nothing beats a relaxing 

stroll through the picturesque Nine Creeks Scenic Area. 

Starting out after a great lunch of Beggar’s Chicken, fresh 

local vegetables and quality Long Jin tea in Long Jin village, 

I find myself surrounded by fields of tea bushes dotted here 

and there, with silent tea-pickers plying their trade.

common hotpot. Spicy or not – it’s your choice.

Linsen North Road is the alter-ego of Taipei. Grungy and down-to-earth, this street oozes 

everything ‘Tai’: open-door eateries serving delectable Taiwanese food; street-side stalls

Eason Chan’s charisma can be attributed to three 

things: his amazing vocals, his stage presence and his 

‘never grow old’ attitude. There’s never a dull moment 

when he’s on stage. 

There’s never a dull moment when interviewing him 

as well – during the interview session, he’s constantly 

recommending songs, and if you really get into it with 

him, he’ll even sing the song out loud for you. His 

passion for music is contagious, but we don’t possess 

his endless energy. 

“Sometimes my schedule is hectic, but it doesn’t 

matter,” he says. “To be honest, as long as you love what 

you do, you don’t get tired.” 

After releasing his Cantonese album H3M in March,

chan’s in the live performances first have been acclaimed in recent 

years, starting with 2007’s ‘eason’s Moving on stage 1’ concert 

auction of 2009, a

重視?「以往的國語碟,很多都是在香港錄音,

今次專輯《上五樓的快活》,我找來林暐哲老師 

任唱片監製,而且整張碟中有九首歌都在台灣錄 

音,暐哲老師是我一直很欣賞的音樂人,因為由 

他一手提攜的樂隊蘇打錄的音樂很棒,令我很想 

跟他合作。今次唱片內亦收錄了蘇打錄主音青峰、 

蔡健雅、范曉萱與張亞東等音樂人的作品,但說 

到最開心,就是我親自創作的一首《給你》,將會 

是唱片的第一主打,這是我第一次有機會以自己的 

作品成為首支派台歌,以往都編排得很後的呢!」 

台灣是Eason除香港以外的另一個重要基地,今次 

為了籌備新碟,他先後逗留台北15天來完成錄音工 

作。「我想是因為身處外地的關係,覺得時間過得 

特別快,感覺很自由、很開心。而且不似在香港般 

要兼顧其他工作,在台灣錄音的那段時間大家都 

很專注,我也特別珍惜這次難得的機會。」2007 

年在香港舉行的演唱會《Eason’s Moving On 

Stage1》得到空前的成功,之後08、09年Eason 

走遍了內地各主要城市、東南亞,甚至美國、加 

拿大、澳大利亞等超過25個城市開秀,面對著差 

不多一樣的編排,Eason依然賣力演出,絕無欺 

場,他說,雖然是同一個編排,同樣的幾十首 

歌,但每晚演唱都是獨一無二,所以他不會覺 

得悶。「對我而言,每次表演就是不一樣, 

在不同的場地,跟不同的樂手合作,面對不 

同的觀眾,他們的反應不一樣,也影響我有 

不一樣的演繹,我想這就是舞台的魔力。」 

跟同期出道的歌手比較,Eason可算是現今 

樂壇最活躍的一位,成績也遠

affects me. It’s the magic of live performance.” 

Chan is among the more active of his contemporaries, with 

more success critically and commercially as well. And he 

plans to continue – with no end in sight. “I haven’t thought 

about retirement at all,” he says. “Even though I do envy 

those who have retired and are living the relaxed lifestyle. 

But ultimately my heart is with performing. I’m still 

young anyways – I shouldn’t be talking retirement!” 

Chan disagrees with the common perception that 

he’s a workaholic though. “I enjoy my own personal 

private time too,” he says, adding that he watches old 

Stephen Chow movies as a way to relax. “Last time I 

was in Malaysia to work, I watched six Stephen Chow 

movies in the four days I was there.” 

And when Chan is working, he isn’t controlling. 

“I’ve always let the company make the decisions that are 

theirs,” he says. “I believe as a singer my job is to sing and 

perform well.”

有想過有一天會退下火線,過平淡的生活。「這個問題 

嘛,到目前為止,真的從沒想過要退休,雖然有時看見

他說:「我一直都將工作的決定權交給公司,每個人都 

應該有自己的崗位,作為歌手,我要做的就是把歌唱 

好、把表演做好,工作就留給公司同事為我安排,很 

多人誤會我是工作狂,其實我也很享受不用工作的私人 

時間,看看周星馳的舊作,已經是很好的舒緩壓力的方 

法。我曾經到馬來西亞工作,四天的行程中,我在餘暇 

時便看了六套周星馳的電影,很誇張吧!」

A Sichuan railway is giving new life to a 

mountain town and delighting tourists

As it hisses, judders and jangles along the subtropical 

mountain ridges of Leshan in Sichuan, the Jiayang steam 

train continues to make history a full 50 years after it was 

first launched. 

The Bashi Railway, which celebrated its 50th anniversary 

last July, began its life as a necessity. During World War II, 

the Jiayang Group started extracting coal from a major 

mine in the mountains of south Sichuan. At first the coal 

was hauled on a barge for the journey down river out of the 

mountains. But in 1958, when the government dammed 

the river for hydroelectric power, a rail track was planned 

as a substitute for the barge. 

It took about 10,000 labourers less than a year to 

construct the 20-kilometre track, which today meanders 

along the contours of the stooping mountains, running 

through six tunnels.

嘉陽蒸汽小火車於今年7月剛慶祝了它的50周 

年。在二次世界大戰期間,嘉陽煤礦在四川南部的崇 

山峻嶺間開礦挖煤,起初利用駁船經山溝的水道把煤 

炭運出山外。但到1958年,國家在山間的河道上修 

建了水電站,因此嘉陽集團只得規劃修建一條鐵路來 

取代駁船。一萬名民工不用一年的時間便修了長20公 

里的軌道,鐵路在崇山峻嶺間蜿蜒而過,沿途還要經 

過六座長短不一的隧道。 

嘉陽煤礦公司旅遊開發管理部長袁成方說:「剛 

開始時,我們為小火車感到驕傲,因為在這樣艱難的 

路況條件下運行小火車,需要高超的工程技藝。」 

「由於缺乏資金,當時修建的軌道只有600毫米 

寬,依山而建,蜿蜒而行。」袁先生說:「鐵路要 

爬的坡度高達3.6%,這樣的坡度特別陡。小火車開 

始運行的第一年,遇到很多問題,火車頭總是打

“In the beginning,” says Yuan Chengfang, director of 

tourism for Jiayang Group, the coal mining company that 

runs the line, “the company was very proud of the railway, 

as it was something of an engineering feat to build and 

operate under such difficult conditions. 

“Lack of money forced us to build a narrow track, with 

a 600-millimetre gauge, that followed the contours of the 

mountains,” recounts Yuan. “Ironically, it is the 107 bends 

along the line that make the train journey so attractive for 

tourists today. But in its first year, the railway was beset with 

problems. The line rises along a gradient of 3.6%, which is 

unusually steep. The locomotive kept slipping backwards, 

derailing or capsizing. After a year, they widened the gauge 

to 762mm, and that solved the problems. ” 

Today, rail aficionados and an increasing number of 

tourists are thrilled that the train is set to continue its 

journeys – no longer out of necessity, but as a legally 

protected historical monument. “The Jiayang train is 

a marvel,” says Chen Yong, an eminent collector of 

model trains. “It’s almost like a toy, given the narrow 

track and tiny size of the locomotive and the total lack of 

electronic controls; even my model trains are much more 

technologically sophisticated. Modern trains fail at the 

merest breakdown of an electrical element, but the Jiayang 

runs whatever the trouble – as it has been doing day after 

day without fail for 50 years.” 

An entire small town called Bajiaogou had sprouted 

up on the back of the opportunities presented by 

employment in the mine. However, by 1988, the coal 

mines had been exhausted, but the company continued 

to run the train as an act of social responsibility. The 

little train was, and remains, the only way out of the 

mountains – it is the inhabitants’ lifeline. The company 

incurred losses; and by the turn of this century the train 

was running at operating losses amounting to RMB2 

million annually.

的火車模型使用的都是比它更為複雜的電氣控制系 

統。要知道,現代化的火車如果電氣系統出了一丁點 

問題,都不能開動,而嘉陽小火車卻能克服所有難 

題,從不間斷地運作了50年。」 

當年開礦需要工人,給巴蕉溝帶來了機遇,整個 

小鎮發展了起來,到1988年,煤炭資源開採枯竭, 

嘉陽集團就把小火車當作社會服務項目繼續運行。直 

到今天,小火車仍然是山溝通向外界的唯一通道。嘉 

陽集團為了維護小火車的運行,年年虧損,到本世紀 

之交,累計年虧損已達人民幣200萬元。 

2004年,嘉陽集團決定停運小火車,拆除鐵路, 

修建公路。計劃剛公布,就在廣大火車迷中引起強力 

反響,媒體隨之蜂擁而至,為這堪稱「老爺火車」即 

將退出歷史舞台而惋惜。大家的呼聲使嘉陽集團不得 

不重新評估小火車的價值,同時還引起了政府部

But in 2004, it was decided that the train would be 

scrapped and a road built instead. This plan caused an outcry 

among train enthusiasts, and it provoked widespread media 

coverage lamenting the imminent demise of the train. This 

forced the government to reassess the situation, and it was 

decided to keep the line running for the sake of historical 

preservation. In 2006 the train was legally listed as a 

protected historical relic by the provincial government; next 

year it will be listed as a national historical monument. These 

legal designations paved the way for Jiayang Group – which is 

a state company – to underwrite the train’s operating losses, 

and promote the area for tourism in a bid to raise money. 

Tourist attractions in the mountains go beyond the 

train itself. There’s the backdrop of lush subtropical 

mountains, and there’s Bajiaogou, the industrial town 

that feels like a 40-year-old time warp. The evocative 

early industrial-era tenements where the inhabitants 

live are interspersed with some buildings displaying 

British architectural trimmings (the attic windows high 

up on the slanting roofs built by British technicians

位於傾斜的屋頂之上,展現了典型的英式建築裝飾; 

古舊的行政大樓則帶有蘇聯式新古典主義的外貌。

Daily buses that take four hours connect Chengdu 

and Yuejin, where you can catch the train. The 

train runs forth and back four times daily (from 

Yuejin at 6am, 9.30am, 2pm and 5.30pm). There 

are a couple of guesthouses for accommodation 

in Bajiaogou – the rooms are basic but clean, and 

have attached bathrooms. The best places to stay

who worked in the mine during the war) and some 

splashes of Russian architecture (the neo-classical façades 

of the former administration buildings). 

Town life remains quaint even by Sichuan standards. The 

market is a mélange of stalls, including herbalists, dentists 

and barbers. In the evenings, the inhabitants dance and 

play mahjong in the town square, which is enclosed by the 

phantom buildings of another era: the auditorium and former 

hospital. Mao’s revolutionary slogans survive on the façades of 

some buildings. The air is infused with the smell of coal (local 

people still heat their houses and cook on coal, which comes 

from a tiny mine that still operates), the whistles and hisses of 

the train (local people can tell the time by the passage of the 

train) and the clanging of the workshop near the station. 

The blacksmith’s workshop is also a sight from another 

era. “I learned the craft from my father, and my father 

learned the trade from his father,” says Yang Fuzheng, the 

blacksmith. “When I was younger I could do a hexagonal 

nut by free-forging, but now I work with a die forge.” The 

die forge is the only mechanised piece of machinery in 

the workshop, and Yang moves in a kind of tango with 

the machine, the die forge pounding automatically by air 

compression and Yang flitting around it with the red-hot 

metal in his hands, shaping the metal this way and that. 

He produces spare parts for the railway, as well as tools 

and farming paraphernalia. “I work like the train,” he says, 

“normally finishing the day’s work when the last whistle of 

the train dies away at 7pm.”

有的一台機械化設備,隨著鍛錘的起落,楊師傅不 

斷揮動手臂敲打著鐵件,然後用手鉗把紅紅的熾熱 

鐵件拋來摔去,以這種方法使鐵件成形。他製作的 

東西有小火車軌道的配件、挖煤的工具和種田的農 

具。楊師傅說:「我工作起來就像小火車一樣,一 

般在晚上7點左右最後一班小火車的汽笛響後,我 

便收工去。」

大魚物語 ─ 築地魚市場 

A trip to Tsukiji fish market reveals the 

wonders of the Japanese diet

Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market holds a daily tuna auction 

that has always netted enormous interest. And, for the 

usually understated fishmongers of the world’s largest 

seafood mart, the first auction of the year is a chance 

to showboat, to start the new calendar with a bang – 

and, above all, to hit the headlines. 

The first auction of 2009 didn’t disappoint. 

Despite the choppy waters of an international financial 

meltdown, a bluefin tuna sold for just a few beans short of 

JPY10 million. That’s over US$100,000 – for a fish! Admittedly 

it wasn’t a sprat but a 128kg tuna. Nonetheless it’s still a lot of 

bread for a fish… 

Take a walk around Tsukiji – or rather, duck and dive 

speeding stevedores on electric carts and porters hauling trays 

of catch over their heads – and it soon becomes obvious that 

tuna, along with almost all other things plucked from

明瞭為什麼鮪魚,和所有拖拽出海面的生物,會在這裡得到應有的 

尊重與對待。唉,對觀光客來說,無法進入拍賣會場一窺漁人們的 

聖所,還真是一大遺憾,不過,觀光客還是可以在這個精彩絕倫的 

海鮮舞台裡閒晃、逛攤位。

the sea, are respected and adored here. Alas, the same 

cannot be said for tourists, who have been getting under 

fishmongers’ feet so much that access to the auctions is 

limited. However, onlookers can still wander the alleys 

and aisles of this extraordinary theatre. 

Tetsuya Kobayashi – a lifelong Tokyoite who, like 

many of his neighbours, rarely thinks to visit Tsukiji 

– explains what buyers look for in sushi- or sashimigrade 

tuna. “Feel and fattiness!” he smiles. “Basically 

they use a corer to extract a small plug of meat from 

the tail end. These men know the fish so well they can 

sense the quality of the meat by simply pressing the 

small sample between their thumb and forefinger.” The 

buyer determines the quality of what in English would 

simply be known as a tuna steak, but what the Japanese 

have a dozen or more words for depending upon the 

cut and the grade. Akami, 

for example, is the ruby 

meat from along the 

backbone. It’s lean, has a 

vaguely bitter taste and is 

available in three grades, 

each with its own name. At 

the other end of the scale, 

o-toro (the honorific ‘o’ at 

the start signifies that it is 

widely revered) is found 

in the belly. This rare meat 

has a pale pink colour and needs to be handled gingerly 

as, due to its tenderness and high fat content, the finest 

examples can easily fall apart when sliced. When eaten, 

just the warmth of the tongue can make it dissolve. It is 

sweet and creamy, and surely the nectar of the sea. 

But Kobayashi insists that Tsukiji is about far more 

than big fish pulling even bigger sums of money. “There’s 

snow crab and trout, abalone, squid and roe, cockles 

and razor clams, and eel.” The simplest way to sample 

all of these treasures is to skip between the whizzing 

stevedores and loaded lorries dripping salty water, past 

the fishermen’s shrine, to the Outer Market. 

These crowded lanes to the north-east of Tsukiji are 

home to wet stalls, sushi parlours and hole-in-the-wall 

eateries serving all manner of the freshest seafood.

場,偌大的將軍休閒園場有一部分已成為築地市場, 

這座庭園可算是東京最精緻的庭園,碎石小徑兩旁植 

栽著精心修剪成的方型樹籬,草地上儘是小野花。抬 

頭從庭園茂密的松林、榆海望去,是東京摩天大樓群

If sashimi doesn’t appeal as the first meal of the day, 

then a good breakfast alternative widely available in the 

Outer Market is unadon (eel and rice). Freshwater eel 

is slowly griddled with the occasional, heavy-handed 

brush of kabayaki, a sticky mix of soy sauce, mirin (a 

condiment) and sugar. The smoky fish oils mingling 

with the sweet marinade can easily make hungry diners 

lose all ability to communicate other than with an 

occasional, appreciative “Mmmmm!” 

For a total change of pace, head around the market 

to neighbouring Hama Rikyu Onshiteien (‘Detached 

Palace Garden’). Once a Tokugawa shogun’s sprawling 

pleasure grounds, part of which is now occupied by 

the market, this is perhaps Tokyo’s finest park, with 

expertly manicured patches (think raked gravels and 

pruned box hedges) that contrast with meadows of 

wild flowers and meandering paths (equally expertly 

maintained). Despite nearby skyscrapers peering over 

the canopy of the garden’s pine and elm trees, it’s easy 

to forget the city beyond. 

From here there are river cruises along the Sumida 

River, heading all the way up to Asakusa and its busy 

precincts around historic Senso-ji Temple (with 

its golden statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, 

supposedly fished from the Sumida almost 1,500 

years ago). Alternatively the seafood enthusiast can 

pop over to Tsukishima district. It’s just a couple of 

stops on the subway, but seems a million miles away 

from the hustle of the market or the sweeping open 

spaces of Hama Rikyu. Ensconced on a riverine 

island, Tsukishima has a village-like atmosphere and 

is popular for tsukudani, whitebait simmered in a 

kabayaki-like broth then allowed to dry. The snack is 

moreish and chewy, salty and sweet. 

Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or simply a curious 

tourist, the Tsukiji district is an enthralling introduction to 

Tokyo and its love of the oceans’ riches. 

Tsukiji fish market is close to both Tsukiji-shijo subway station 

(Toei Oedo Line) and Tsukiji subway station (Hibiya Line). Trains run 

from about 5am, enabling you to reach the market in good time. 

The market is closed on Sundays, on some Wednesdays and on public holidays.

Macau is being groomed as an attractive 

destination for hosting business events

On any given day, the number of business people in Macau 

Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf or The Venetian is beginning to 

rival the number of tourists. With the 31 July announcement 

by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) that it 

is increasing MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and 

exhibitions) support with an updated budget of MOP44 

million, the likelihood of Macau transforming into an Asian 

convention hub is rapidly increasing. 

“The Macau Business Tourism Centre (MBTC), a 

division of the MGTO, was established in April 2006 to 

help develop and position Macau as a premier MICE 

destination within Asia,” says MGTO’s director Joao 

Manuel Costa Antunes. “The growth in competition in 

Macau and the need for the leisure industry to diversify 

its business mix has been a major catalyst for this interest. 

Despite recent government initiatives, Macau is still a 

relatively new player in the international MICE market as 

it only recently developed the appropriate infrastructure 

to facilitate large-scale conventions and trade exhibitions. 

Our master plan is to maximise yield from MICE events

Around the city: osaka’s subway has

Putting your safety first 

Health and safety are of utmost importance while in the 

air and Air Macau abides by the rules of the Civil Aviation 

Authority of Macau (CAAM), which ensures strict 

compliance with the provisions of the International Health 

Regulations published by the World Health Organization. 

For reasons of safety, health, security and trade control, all 

passengers are forbidden to take the following articles on 

to an aircraft: 

• Drugs, chemical and pharmaceutical products (except 

those prescribed by a doctor); 

• Gunpowder and explosives, pyrotechnic articles and

flammable materials; 

• Pointed or bladed items made or adapted to cause 

injury; 

• Firearms and ammunition; 

• Endangered species of animals and plants; 

• Gas containers and aerosols with a capacity of more 

than 500 millilitres and/or total net quantity exceeding 

two litres, carbon dioxide cartridges, fire extinguishers, 

oxygen tanks (except those approved for medical 

purposes); 

• Corrosive, toxic and infectious substances, caustic 

materials, insecticides, paint, tear gas; 

• Magnetised materials.

onboard safety measures 

BEFORE TAKE-OFF: 

Please study the safety card in front of you. Your life jacket 

is under your seat. Check where your nearest two exits are, 

in front and behind you. Before take-off, count the seat 

rows to your nearest two exits. 

CABIN BAGGAGE: 

Place loose items such as hand luggage or handbags under 

your seat or in the overhead locker during take-off and 

landing. In addition, passengers in bulkhead seats should 

keep the floor areas in front of them clear during take-off 

and landing. 

ELECTRONIC DEVICES: 

The use of Bluetooth or remote-controlled devices is 

prohibited as such devices may interfere with the aircraft’s 

navigation and communication systems. Laptops, PDAs 

and audio/video equipment can be used 15 minutes after 

take-off but must be switched off once the fasten seatbelt 

sign has been illuminated. 

NO SMOKING: All Air Macau flights are non smoking 

and it is an offence to smoke in any part of the aircraft at 

any time.

To ensure your comfort in the air and help you feel relaxed 

and refreshed on arrival at your destination, Air Macau 

offers the following advice to passengers: 

EATING AND DRINKING: 

Try to eat a light meal before and during your flight and 

avoid heavy foods which prove difficult to digest when 

inactive. Avoid excessive intake of alcohol and caffeine to 

prevent headaches and bloating; alcohol and caffeine act 

as diuretics, which increase the body’s dehydration. 

CABIN PRESSURE: 

The aircraft is pressurised to maintain a healthy 

environment, but if you have a cold or sinus infection, the 

cabin pressure may cause discomfort. You can combat this 

by swallowing, sucking on a sweet or yawning. If you’re 

suffering from nasal congestion or allergies, use nasal 

sprays, decongestants and antihistamines 30 minutes prior 

to descent to help open up ear and sinus passages. 

LOW HUMIDITY: 

To beat the low humidity in the cabin, which may leave 

you feeling dehydrated, drink plenty of water or fruit juice 

both before you board the plane and during your flight. 

Apply moisturiser and lip balm to prevent your skin from 

drying out and wear glasses instead of contact lenses to 

avoid eye irritation. 

inflight eXerCises: 

Sitting upright in a chair for a sustained period of time can 

affect blood circulation, which can cause muscle tension 

as well as fluid retention. To boost circulation during the 

flight, don’t forget to do some simple stretching exercises, 

such as flexing your toes up and down and raising your 

knees gently towards your chest. Another good exercise 

involves lifting your thighs toward your chest then rotating 

your ankles individually in a circular motion; neck rolls and 

shoulder shrugs are also good. It is recommended that you 

do this for three to four minutes for every hour that you 

are in the air. Walking around the plane every hour is also 

a good idea. Breathing exercises are also recommended in 

order to increase bloodflow and aid relaxation. 

JET-LAG BUSTER: 

Get plenty of sleep before your trip. 

Don’t drink alcohol. 

Eat small, well-balanced meals. Don’t overeat! 

Exercise as much as you can on your trip. 

Use sleeping tablets for only a few days. 

If possible, give yourself a day or two to adjust to the new 

time zone after arrival. 

Eat and sleep at the same times the locals do.

飛行健康小百科 

為了保證您飛行途中的舒適,並為了幫助您在抵達目的地時能感到 

輕鬆愉快、精神奕奕,澳門航空提供以下建議給乘客: 

進食與飲料:不論是飛行前或是飛行途中,最好能選用清淡、富營 

養的食物,儘量避免讓腸胃負擔過重。另外,亦應避免攝取含酒精 

及咖啡因的飲品,以免引發頭痛和暈機;這類飲料也具有利尿的作 

用,會增加身體的脫水速度,因此宜儘量避免。 

艙壓:機艙內的特殊壓力能為乘客提供健康的環境,但若您正感冒 

或感染鼻竇炎,可能會因艙壓感到不適,您可多使用吞嚥、吃糖果 

或是打哈欠的動作以減輕不適。若您正受鼻塞或過敏症狀所苦,可 

在飛機降落前30分鐘使用通鼻噴劑、抗鼻塞藥品和抗組織胺劑,以 

舒緩上耳道及靜脈竇通道的不適。 

低濕度:機艙內的低濕度也許會讓您覺得體內水份流失較快,而略 

感不適,建議您在登機前及飛行途中多喝水或果汁,並改戴眼鏡而 

非隱形眼鏡,以免引起乾眼之困擾。 

空中舒緩運動:在椅子上坐直一段時間會影響血液循環,進而引起 

肌肉緊張和水份滯留(水腫)。為了在飛行途中增加血液循環,別 

忘了做一些簡單的伸展操,例如經常上下動動腳趾、將膝蓋輕輕向 

胸前的方向舉起等。另一個很好的動作是將大腿向胸前抬高,再以 

固定的方向旋轉腳踝;轉動脖子和聳聳肩膀也是很好的舒緩操。建 

議您在飛行途中,每隔一小時就做這樣一套完整動作3到4分鐘。
