& Astrophysics (1), New Astronomy (1), Astronomische Nachrichten (4), other
The paper `Are ring galaxies the ancestors of giant low surface brightness galaxies?', by M.
Mapelli, et al. (2008, MNRAS, 383, 1223) was presented and positively reviewed in the `News
and Views' section of Nature (by C. Struck, `Astronomy: Dim view of past clashes', 2007, Nature,
450, 956).
Full list of publications: http://web.pd.astro.it/mapelli/
The large number of papers as 1 st author and that of normalized citations, together with the absence
of my PhD supervisor in most of my publications, indicate the INDEPENDENCE of my research.
FIVE SELECTED PUBLICATIONS:
1 – Mapelli M., Zampieri L., Ripamonti E., Bressan A., `Dynamics of stellar black holes in young
star clusters with different metallicities - I. Implications for X-ray binaries', 2013, MNRAS, 429,
2298 (5 citations on ADS, journal impact factor: 4.9).
reionization', 2006, MNRAS, 369, 1719 (119 citations on ADS, journal impact factor: 4.9).
From these 5 selected publications, it is apparent that my career is quite eclec
tic,
as my research
topics range from the dynamics of star clusters and galaxies, to the evolution of galaxies, to the
modelization of the reionization epoch, to the study of stellar and intermediate-mass black holes. I
approached all these topics as a theorist (working on analytical models and simulations), but I
always took great pains to compare my work with observational data and to make predictions for
observational checks.
