University Governance<br />
The Teerthanker Mahaveer University Uttar Pradesh Act, 2008 (U.P. Act No. 30 of 2008) sets<br />
the governance model for the university. The important bodies of the university are:<br />
University Court<br />
The primary function of the University Court is to periodically review the broad policies and<br />
programs of the university and suggest measures for the efficient function<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
improvement of the university and also to advise the Visitor on the referred matter(s).<br />
Recogniz<strong>in</strong>g the importance of the body, em<strong>in</strong>ent people who have contributed significantly <strong>in</strong><br />
their fields have representation <strong>in</strong> the Court.<br />
Plann<strong>in</strong>g Board<br />
Plann<strong>in</strong>g Board is the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal plann<strong>in</strong>g body of the university responsible for ensur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
availability of <strong>in</strong>frastructure and <strong>ac</strong>ademic support system to meet the norms and<br />
requirements of the <strong>ac</strong>ademic programs as well the regulatory bodies. Persons of em<strong>in</strong>ence<br />
hav<strong>in</strong>g made noteworthy contribution <strong>in</strong> the corporate world and hav<strong>in</strong>g deep understand<strong>in</strong>g<br />
of requirements of educational sector are represent<strong>in</strong>g this august body.<br />
Executive Council<br />
Executive Council is responsible for general oversight of the university, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g its<br />
adm<strong>in</strong>istration. It sets the policy framework for university governance. Certa<strong>in</strong> <strong>ac</strong>ademic<br />
decisions are also subject to the Executive Council‘s approval <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g new programs or major<br />
changes to programs. Members hav<strong>in</strong>g deep understand<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>ac</strong>ademics and its<br />
adm<strong>in</strong>istration make the rich composition of the Council.<br />
Academic Council<br />
Academic Council is the ma<strong>in</strong> decision mak<strong>in</strong>g body on <strong>ac</strong>ademic matters <strong>in</strong> the university.<br />
Members represent<strong>in</strong>g variety of <strong>ac</strong>ademic professionals f<strong>ac</strong>ilitate shap<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>ac</strong>ademic<br />
policies and programs.<br />
F<strong>in</strong>ance Committee<br />
F<strong>in</strong>ance committee is the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal f<strong>in</strong>ancial body of the university to take care of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />
matters.<br />
