America. The continent offers everything from the cosmopolitan
delights of Buenos Aires and Santiago to the Patagonia frontier. A
special highlight of this trip is the cruise across the Andean Lakes
District as we travel from Argentina to Chile.

Cal Discoveries Travel
The goal of the Cal Discoveries Travel Program is to provide exciting
combinations of discovery, adventure, and educationally oriented travel
opportunities for a unique community drawn together by the University of
California. The tours are designed for those who have the University in
common and who are lively, inquisitive, and eager to broaden their cultural and
intellectual horizons. All tour members are expected to enjoy traveling as part
of a group—and also to be tolerant of the occasional changes, delays, or minor
mishaps that are part of any kind of travel.

A sprawling metropolis in perpetual motion,
Buenos Aires pulsates with a passionate Latin
spirit and creative energy. Known as The Paris of
South America, a walk down the wide, elegant
boulevards lined with upscale boutiques, cafés,
plazas and quaint museums will have you
convinced you’re in one of Europe’s capitals.
For a taste of the city’s South American soul,
step into a tango hall and watch exuberant
crowds put on masterful displays of the highly
charged and deeply revered dance. A long and
fascinating history draws visitors to the Casa
Rosada, the presidential estate where the
heroic First Lady of Argentina, Eva Perón,
emboldened the working class with heartfelt
speeches from the balcony in 1951. A walk
through the Recoleta Cemetery will reveal
Evita’s final resting place amongst the nation’s

Spanning the border
between Brazil and Argentina, Iguazú Falls is
one of the most awe-inspiring sights on the
continent. Fittingly named Iguazú — meaning
“great waters” in the local tribal tongue—
this spectacular torrent is 65 feet taller than
Niagara Falls and twice as wide, causing a
thunderous roar that can be heard from miles
away. In the site’s most dramatic section, the
Devil’s Throat, 14 separate falls plummet over
a 330-foot drop. View this exquisite display of
nature’s power from a series of catwalks that
lead you directly over the cascading waters.

American accent, San Carlos de Bariloche —

MOBILITY AND FITNESS TO TRAVEL-The right is

AIR TRANSPORTATION-The price of this trip is based on
an Advance Purchase Excursion fare. After tickets are issued,
penalties up to 100% of the ticket price may be levied. If connecting
flights are requested, special promotional fares may be
used, in which case penalties of as much as 100% may be
assessed by the airlines if reservations are changed or canceled
after ticketing. After departure, if the reservations are changed,
you will be charged the higher, all year Economy class fare.
VARIATIONS TO THE GROUP ITINERARY MUST BE REQUEST-
ED NO LATER THAN 60 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.
Passengers who choose to make their own airline reservations
independently will be wholly responsible for any airline fees or
penalties incurred as a result of program cancellation and/or
change in travel dates, or airline schedule(s).
CANCELLATION-In addition to airline cancellation penalties,
all cancellations for any reason whatsoever will be subject
to a $250 per person cancellation fee. Cancellation from 120
days to 76 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of
10% of the entire cost of the trip per person; 75 days to 30 days,
50% of the trip cost per person; cancellation from 29 days up to
the time of departure will result in 100% forfeiture of the entire
cost of the trip. TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE IS AVAIL-
ABLE FROM CAA. AN APPLICATION WILL BE SENT AFTER
YOU RESERVE. All cancellations must be submitted in writing
to CAL DISCOVERIES TRAVEL.
BAGGAGE-Baggage restrictions vary according to the airline
policy and the class of service flown. Details will be provided
with your pre-departure information. Baggage allowances are
subject to change by the carrier without notice. Excess baggage
charges for additional or oversized/overweight pieces are
expensive and not included in your trip price; plan your
wardrobe accordingly. Transport of baggage and personal
