HistOry and MilestOnes
The company located in Schwechat, Austria, was founded in 1847 as “Wiener Metallwaren-, Schnallen- und Maschinenfabrik GmbH”. The first
ski binding was manufactured in 1928. Ten years later, industrial production was established and in 1949 the first TYROLIA branded ski binding
was produced. The following decades were full of outstanding developments in the ski binding sector, resulting in the modern high-tech products
which everyone now appreciates in modern ski sports such as alpine skiing. The product range of TYROLIA offers the perfect ski binding
for every type of skier: whether for racing, freeskiing, park & powder, juniors or rental dealers – perfect performance and easier handling are
obvious benefits.
2011.12 – KicK-Off Of tHe newly redesigned Binding PrOduct line, featuring
iMPrOved functiOn and a MOre dynaMic sKi steering aPPrOacH.
The TYROLIA SX product line was developed with new kinematics for binding toes, based on laboratory measurements and tests.
The advantages for ski bindings: enhanced performance and safety!
The improvements from the new construction are easily measurable for every skier:
Enhanced stability:
> Horizontally
> Vertically
> Plus – considerably improved canting stability
enHanced staBility PrOvides PerfOrMance iMPrOveMents fOr every sKier,
Based On new KineMatics:
Considerably improved canting stability
for better edge grip and faster edge to
edge turns.
Horizontally – more stability for more direct
power transmission from boot to edge.
Vertically - whether icing up, dirt or boot wear,
the ski boot is always precisely secure due to
the linear adaptation to the height of the ski
boot sole. This ensures exact and direct ski
steering.
Additional performance related enhancements include better boot centering and reset force. In other words, the boot returns to its original
position after impact or displacements in a fast and precise manner. Proven technology features provide safety and stability, not only through
measurements, but in practice in the field (on snow) as well.
All the latest components are based on the new kinematics – whether icing up, dirt or boot wear, the ski boot is precisely secure due to the linear
adaptation to the height of the ski boot sole. This ensures exact and more direct power transmission from boot to edge.
Those kinematic improvements are reflected in the product design as well, and define the basics for the new TYROLIA product line and upcoming
binding family, focusing on the functional structure of the new binding generation. With the new kinematics we were able to define the roller
pincers, which secure the ski boots, as separate elements.
With their distinct “eyes”, the “face” of the new SX toe, with its high cheek bones reminds us of a fox – smart, spry, agile and very clever.
Furthermore, a new developed weight-optimized adapter, with a new Anti-Friction Slider provides increased safety in all PowerRail binding
models.
The next generation of ski binding toes – for a more enjoyable skiing experience and renewed dynamics!
in case of icing up, dirt and boot
wear.
FrEEFlEX Pro
Best performance enabled by the innovative Freeflex
Pro System. The free-gliding heel allows the ski to
bend through unimpeded and to retain its natural
dynamics. Due to the reduced stand height, the
Freeflex band is now much closer to the ski boot.
Constant release values reduce the risk of injury and
ensure safe ski steering.
race tHe MOuntains
Fast and appealing: The 11.12 TYROLIA race bindings come in a distinct racing look and are tuned for racing: The Freeflex Pro system allows the heel to
glide freely so that the ski can bend through unhindered and retains its natural dynamics. Additionally, the top model Freeflex Pro 17 comes with the
special Race Pro Heel with reduced stand height. The Freeflex Pro 11 is equipped with the lighter model, the Race Lite Heel.
The top performer of the TYROLIA race bindings is the Freeflex Pro 17 binding. Sensational smooth running, grip and optimal control of the ski
– these are the characteristics that distinguish the TYROLIA race binding and set it apart as the safest binding in the high speed range. A proven
technology that Bode Miller, Didier Cuche and Lindsey Vonn and all our other alpine world cup athletes have faith in.
Furthermore, the mounting range of the TYROLIA race bindings has been broadened too, thus providing the advantages of TYROLIA bindings to
an even wider spectrum of ski racers.
The standard PowerRail Base consists of a monoblock base body, a cover, and an inlaid toothed area which can be color matched to the ski design.
For unhindered natural ski flex, the base is secured by one fixed pair of screws, and three free-gliding pairs of screws. This ensures the base safely
adapts to the flex of the ski.
The high-end variant, PowerRail Pro, is equipped with an additional Freeflex band which links both toothed areas at the toe and the heel side of the
base. Therefore, toe and heel piece can glide on the base unhindered. This additional “Double Freeflex Function” ensures fewer impediments of the
natural ski flex, constant release values and better edge grip.
PowerRail is 7% wider and 25% lower compared to former bases, directly improving power transmission from boot to ski.
Special features make the TYROLIA Rental bindings extremely long-lived and especially durable, but at the same time
easier to handle – ideally suited for long-term use and abuse in the rental sector.
tyrOlia rent One touch Heel and sl toe
The TYROLIA Rent One Touch heel features improved ergonomics, resistance and better protection against abrasion plus an
optimized scale window – thus combining visual quality with safety and stability. The SL toe of the SP 100 and
SR 100 bindings was enhanced for rental use as well.
tyrOlia One touch system
The innovative One Touch System used for the TYROLIA Rental bindings ensures the simplest possible operation and length
adjustment of toes and heels. Because – especially in the Rental sector – time is also money!
tyrOlia single code
The TYROLIA Single Code guarantees that rental agreements are processed in record time. There is only one unit of size
in the form of clearly colour coded letters. This enables toe, heel and boot to be adjusted very quickly so that
more customers can be served in less time.
syMPrO
With the Rental Sympro, the length of the toe and heel can be adjusted with only a few easy steps for fast on-hill adjustment.
The TYROLIA SP Rental bindings are suitable for any ski without an integrated system.
