Another month, another
issue, a few fish, a couple
whiskeys, a heat wave
and at the time of writing
this, the Lions are in the
final to be played tomorrow.
I can only hope that
as you read this, the game is done and
the Lions are at last victorious… I can only
hope.
Our first issue last month was a resounding
success. Far more than I expected and with
more to come. The feedback on the digital
format was fabulous.
Fly fishermen world wide read the book and
our analytics tell us that on average a reader
is spending over 40 minutes in the
magazine per visit, which as you may or
may not know is fantastic in the digital world.

One thing I've realised over
the last month is that I need
to get some time to sit down
and create my fishing bucket
list.
Only having gotten back into
the fly fishing game over the
last couple of years, having
spent a decade or more playing rugby
and publishing retail magazines, I lost
touch with the fly fishing opportunities and
adventures that lie only a flight away.
Not to mention the fact that when I first
held a rod on the odd weekend some 20
years ago, flying across the world to fly
fish in exotic destinations never featured
in my mind. Probably as a result of the
contents of my wallet being more mothlike
than anything else...
The fact however remains that unless you
put all the places you want to go to on
a list of some sort, and then plan when
and how you are going to get there, you
simply never will. Whether is be
patagonia, or the galapagos islands,
Dullstroom or the berg, put it on a piece of
paper... or an i pad more than likely these
days, and plan your attack. Life is simply
too short not to...
