The seniors qualified for the knock outof Vijay Hazare Trophy One day tournament and S Mushtaq Ali Trophy T-20 Tournament withsome great performances. The U-22 and U-19 teams also played splendidly to qualify for Elitegroup in the next season. The U-16 lads too did their bit by qualifying for the knock out for thesecond year in succession. The U-19 girls team also performed very well. The last year alsosaw the fruits of the hard work being put in at the academy. A new gym with the latestequipments came up and the construction work of the new administrative block also gotunderway. The successful hosting of One Day International between India and South Africa atGwalior on 24 Feb 2010 was icing on the cake.Condolences : As always, I would begin by remembering those who are no more with us.We lost our honorable members Shri Noshirwan Godrej who also played for the state, ShriK.K.Shah, Shri Ravi Borgaonkar, Shri Mahendra Mahajan, and Shri Mahendra Kumar Badjatya. We deeply mourn their death. We also mourn the death of Cricketers , Leaders and othereminent persons who died during the last year. One Day International at Gwalior : The one day international between India and SouthAfrica was allotted to us and hosted successfully at Gwalior on 24 Feb 2010. We congratulateGwalior Divisional Cricket Association for the success of the match which saw SachinTendulkar becoming the first player in the world to get a double hundred in ODI's.Ranji Trophy : It was a very unfortunate story as far as our Ranji campaign wasconcerned. Bad luck and rain dogged the team right from beginning to end. In the first matchagainst Haryana, M.P. was well placed at 301 for 2 chasing Haryana's 546. A middle ordercollapse sent them crashing to 321 for 7, eventually to concede the lead. In the second matchonly 43.4 overs play was possible against Kerala and to compound the problems only 199.2overs could be played against Andhra. M.P. got a consolation outright win in the last matchagainst Jammu and Kashmir but it was not enough for the team to qualify for the plate semifinal. Bundela and Mishra added 226 for sixth wicket in the match. For Madhya Pradesh,Devendra Bundela and Jalaj Saxena contributed with the bat while T. Sudhindra bowled well.Vijay Hazare Trophy One Dayers : The disappointment in Ranji Trophy fired the players togive the best in One Dayers which they did. M.P. played brilliantly in all four matches to top theCentral Zone league in style. M.P. started by beating Vidarbha scratchily. Young Amarjeet Singhcame up with an all round performance. In the second match M.P. chased down Uttar Pradeshscore of 274 in just 40.4 overs to give them a shock. Mohnish Mishra scored an explosive 1178

of 85 balls (10x4, 8x6). M.P. then overhauled Rajasthan's 303. This time Naman Ojha (106) andMohnish Mishra (83) doing the star turn. The team exceeded everybody's expectation byscoring a massive 412/6 against Railways. Naman Ojha (167 runs 143 balls) and HarpreetSingh Bhatia (111 not out, 71 balls 8x4, 8x6) smashed the bowlers all over the place. The twoadded 184 runs of 127 balls and the team got 158 runs in the last ten overs. In the knock outround M.P started well defeating Orissa. Naman Ojha getting his third successive ton. MadhyaPradesh then came up against strong Tamil Nadu in the semi finals and lost rather tamely.Naman Ojha (419) Mohinish Mishra (352) and Harpreet Singh Bhatia (271) performed with thebat and all got an opportunity to play in IPL-3. Amarjeet Singh (14 wickets) was successful withthe ball and showed a lot of promise. Ankit Sharma and T. Sudhindra took ten wickets each.S.Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T-20) : M.P. hosted both the Central Zone league and the knockout phase of the tournament. M.P. chased down the opponents score with ease in all thematches they played at the league level. In the knock out stage M.P. came up with an inspiredMaharshtra team losing at the first hurdle. Maharashtra eventually emerged as the winners ofthe event. Naman Ojha and Anand Rajan performed well for the team.Col C.K.Nayudu Trophy (U-22) : It was a dream performance by the U-22 team who wonfour matches by an innings, drew one match and one match was marred by rain. The teamdefeated Kerala in the first match. Rohan Shrivastava ton was followed by leggie Sridhar Iyerand Ishwar Pandey's incisive bowling. In the next match M.P. took a huge lead againstMaharashtra but could not force a win. Against Tripura Harpreet Singh Bhatia smashed adouble hundred (adding 263 runs for sixth wicket with Manoj Singh) and another leg spinnerAsif Ali had a 13 wicket haul.Haryana too met the same fate with Zafar Ali getting a hundred atNo. 8 and Ankit Sharma performing well with both ball and bat. The last match against Andhracould not be completed. M.P. beat Goa by an innings in the plate semi final to book a place innext year's elite group. M.P. then lost to Tamil Nadu in the Knock out quarter final. RameezKhan, Rohan Shrivastava and Manoj Singh got 300 runs or more runs while left arm pacebowler Ishwar Pandey was the top wicket taker with 24 wickets. Ishwar performed well at U-19level too. Leg spinner Asif Ali grabbed 20 wickets.Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19) : The U-19 boys who were unlucky last year did not leave it toluck this year. They won all their matches in style before losing to Punjab in the Knock outquarter finals. M.P. started by beating Orissa in the opening match. Dhaliwal's century followedNikhil Sawke's fine bowling performance. Next up was Jammu and Kashmir. This timeHarpreet Singh Bhatia smashed a double hundred, Satyam Choudhary got 158 (the two added337 for the second wicket) and fast bowlers Anurag Singh, Tanmay Patwardhan and Sawke did9

the demolition job. M.P. conceded the lead to Saurashtra but Harpreet Singh Bhatia's centuryhelped M.P. win by eight wickets. Anurag Singh took 11 wickets in the match. Against Goa too,M.P came back from a first innings deficit and won by 60 runs. M.P. played against Hyderabadin the plate semi final and won the low scoring match by 6 wickets. Sawke 10 wickets andPatwardhan 7 wickets keeping up the good work while Samay Shrivastava came up withimportant contributions in both innings. The boys good not cope with the cold at Mohali andlost to Punjab by an innings and 174 runs. Team badly missed the experience of Harpreet SinghBhatia. Bhatia top scored with 434 runs in just three matches while Satyam Choudhary (343runs) and Manoj Singh (265 runs) also played well. The bowling honors were shared by thethree fast bowlers Nikhil Sawke (36 wkts) Anurag Singh (36 wkts) and Tanmay Patwardhan (25wkts).Vinoo Mankad Trophy (U-19) One Day Tournament : The first tournament of the seasonwas disappointing for us. Before the players could get going they had lost to Uttar Pradesh andVidarbha. A consolation win against Railways could not help M.P. qualify for the knock outround. For M.P. Satyam Choudhary and Manoj Singh got a hundred each but the others failed tocontribute much.Polly Umrigar Trophy (U-16) : The young lads qualified for the knock out for the secondconsecutive year. The outright win against Vidarbha proved to be very vital for the team anddespite conceding the lead against Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, M.P. went through. Thequarter final was a tight match and the team squandered a golden opportunity to win. ChasingHyderabad score of 378, the team was 322 for 4 with just about 20 overs to go in the match. Buta dramatic collapse saw them lose the last 6 wickets for 23 runs in 12 overs. Shubham Sharmawho got two hundreds was top scorer with 343 runs while Ashutosh Singh got 265 runs with 3fifties.Naman Bhatt was the top wicket taker with 15 wickets.Women's Senior One Day Tournament : The last year's runner-up did not perform up toexpectations this year and failed to qualify from Central Zone. The loss in the last match againstUttar Pradesh proved to be crucial. The ladies defeated Rajasthan by a huge 169 runs andVidarbha by 102 runs, but lost to Railways and U.P. Ketki Puntambekar top scored with 140runs while Ranjana Gupta grabbed 8 wickets.Women's Senior 20-20 Tournament : This tournament was started this year looking tothe world cup 20-20. and again the same story was repeated when M.P. lost to Railways andU.P. and defeated the other two teams.Women's (U-19) One Day Tournament : The winners of last year did well to qualify forknock out despite losing to Uttar Pradesh. In the super league phase M.P. defeated Hyderabad10

and Haryana but lost to Maharashtra to finish dismally.Varsha Choudhary with 198 runs battedsuperbly but the bowlers failed to support her.BCCI Tournaments : As always M.P. conducted several tournaments allotted by the BCCI.M.P. staged the Central Zone league as well as knock out round of the S.
