Denim Processing
Denim has always been an everyday symbol For style.
Denim (French town of Nimes, from which ‘denim’ (de Nimes) gets its name) is a
rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two (twi- “double”) or
more warp threads .
This produces the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric,
which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. Denim has been in American usage
since the late 18th century.
The word comes from the name of a sturdy fabric called serge, originally made in
Nimes, France, by the Andre family. Originally called serge de Nimes, the name was
soon shortened to denim.
Denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue “jeans”, though
“jean” then denoted a different, lighter cotton textile; the contemporary use of jean
comes from the French word for Genoa, Italy (Genes), where the first denim trousers
were made.

Pre-treatment
Textile chemical processing today, particularly the pre-treatment processes require
a highly sophisticated technology and engineering to achieve the well-known concepts
of “Right first time, Right every time and Right on time” processing and production.
Chemical pre-treatm ent may be broadly defined as a procedure mainly concerned
with the removal of natural as well as added impurities in fabric to a level necessary

Dyeing
Dyeing is not just process oF adding color to textile, this is a
process that brings liFe into it!
For most of the thousands of years in which dyeing has been used by humans to
decorate clothing, or fabrics for other uses, the prim ary source of dye was nature,
with the dyes being extracted from animals or plants.
In the last 150 years, humans have produced artificial dyes to achieve a broader
range of colors, and to render the dyes more stable to resist washing and general
use. Different classes of dyes are used for different types of fiber and at different
