for Excellence in Herbal Literature, Caroline is Course Director for <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Cambridge’s International Summer Programmeme creating<br />

and leading modules studying English houses and gardens.<br />

Explore RHS Harlow Carr Botanical<br />

Gardens, with a special focus<br />

on Plant Hunter Reginald Farrer.<br />

Then onto Birstwith Hall,<br />

to meet <strong>the</strong> owner of this charming<br />

private garden.<br />

Experience <strong>the</strong> space and serenity<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Yorkshire Arboretum, a 120<br />

acre garden of trees from around<br />

<strong>the</strong> world. Then onto Vanbrugh’s<br />

architectural masterpiece Castle<br />

Howard set in <strong>the</strong> first example of<br />

<strong>the</strong> English serpentine style.<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> grand estate of Harewood<br />

to view an outstanding Capability<br />

Brown landscape, restored Victorian<br />

terraces and walled garden.<br />

Discover internationally renowned<br />

Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where<br />

<strong>the</strong> undulating landscape provides<br />

<strong>the</strong> perfect setting for contemporary<br />

sculpture displays. Then onto<br />

Wentworth Castle Gardens to<br />

enjoy its 18th century follies and<br />

restored Victorian conservatory.<br />
