Who is Sportek Events? 

×� Sportek Events is a basketball training and travel program directed by 

former Professional, Collegiate and current Basketball Trainers and 

Administrators. Sportek maintains two offices, our headquarters is based 

in Raleigh, North Carolina and an additional west coast office was 

recently opened in Newport Beach, California. We have been creating 

unique basketball events for almost 30 years, over 54,000 athletes have 

taken part in this amazing experience! 

×� Sportek Events fields teams consisting of high school athletes from 

across the country who meet for a Training Boot Camp led by Nike Skills 

Professional Trainers and NBA Trainers. Our teams then attend one of 

our four (4) event destinations: 

Hawaii - Bahamas - Costa Rica - Las Vegas 

Each event hosts a special tournament which we have been invited to 

attend. While at the destination, athletes have the opportunity to 

experience the culture and history of our destination. 

×� Our athletes not only have the opportunity to train and compete at a 

very high level, but also have the chance to be seen by Collegiate 

Coaches and evaluated by Basketball Recruiting Services during the

×� We invite high school athletes from across the United States to be a part of our 

teams, train with our Elite NBA Trainers, and compete in domestic and 

international Basketball Tournaments 

×� It is surrounded with young people, with a PASSION for the GAME, exactly

How We Differ From Other Programs 

×� We are committed to our mission of Developing 

the holistic student-person-player in Basketball, 

and have been successful for 29 years! 

×� The Basketball Court is our Classroom. We 

believe in constantly teaching, educating, shaping 

and impacting each young person who 

participates in our Program. You will experience 2 

Types of Training: 

1. Online Virtual Training – Begins 60 days 

before you arrive at the event. 

2. Training Boot Camp which will be for a two or 

three day period (depending on which event 

you attend) 

×� Our online virtual training will supplement your 

school and AAU Practices before you arrive at our 

event and provide you with the same training 

that the Pros use. 

×� Our NBA and Nike Professional Skill Trainers are 

the premier leaders in the sport, and they will 

provide you at your event Boot Camp with an 

opportunity to be pushed and train in ways that 

provide maximum skill development and growth.

Services and Collegiate Coaches at their Training Camp

Tournament Experience! 

Sportek Events has the exclusive invitations to 

prestigious Basketball Tournament Events for 2013 in 

Hawaii, Bahamas and Costa Rica. In previous years, our 

athletes have attended Tournaments in 24 amazing 

countries! You experience another type of game, meet 

and interact with other players your age and encounter 

a new culture. It is an amazing opportunity to develop 

and grow as a player & a young adult. 


Travel 

Programs 

Athletes selected will have the opportunity to attend a Sportek 

Basketball Training Experience and Tournament Program in their 

choice of either: 

Las Vegas Hawaii 

Costa Rica Bahamas 

Each Program will include Boot Camp Training, Tournament Event, 

Sightseeing Experiences, Meals, Transportation and USA Gear. 

×� For those athletes selecting either the Bahamas or Costa Rica, the predeparture 

Boot Camp will be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 

×� For those athletes attending the Las Vegas or Hawaii Programs, the 

pre-departure Boot Camp will be held in Las Vegas. 

Athletes attend the Boot Camp, then travel with their assigned team to 

their selected destination for an unforgettable journey.

Program Details 

§� Athletes have the opportunity to enroll individually, and be placed on a team. 

§� Parents are invited to participate on the program, and may enroll directly through 

out travel department. This ensures they will enjoy all of the exciting 

opportunities with the athlete. Almost 1/3 of our group will be parents/adults. 

§� All Athletes will travel with their team and coach to and from all destinations. 

Sportek has a strict policy in place to account for all athletes, and thus parents 

traveling with the group may not remove their child for activities outside of the 

itinerary. 

§� All Program Destinations have been inspected by the Sportek Staff and meet the 

high expectations for safety. Sportek will not sponsor a Program to destinations 

with any potential unrest. Our staff will accompany each and every Sportek 

Events Program. We are continually monitoring the political, social, and 

economic conditions in our Program Destination cities and countries.

programs. Our staff is with you 

throughout the program, and 

in continual supervision of our 

athletes. We continuously 

monitor conditions in our trip 

destinations to ensure a safe 

and enjoyable experience. 

§� The Sportek staff is made up of 

experienced coaches and 

administrators who have led 

our programs on many 

occasions. Their expertise and 

personality impacts every 

participating athlete!

Sportek Head Coaches 

§� Sportek Events is proud to have an outstanding and 

experienced coaching staff. Many of our coaches have 

participated on multiple programs and repeat annually. 

§� Coaches participating have represented multiple levels 

including Scholastic, Collegiate (NCAA Division II, III, 

JUCO and NAIA) and former Professional. The Coaches are 

outstanding! 

§� Head Coaches will be announced on the website by January 

31, 2013. 


Athlete Selection 

How were you invited for this opportunity? 

Our most common question from student athletes and parents is 

how did you find me/my son/daughter? 

Sportek Events uses several avenues to find out about the 

student athletes we invite to join our programs. Our most 

common are: 

Research Team – We have a dedicated research team of analysts 

who utilize local and national recruiting websites, newspapers, 

school sites, and more to identify the top athletes on basketball 

teams across the country 

Recruiting Services – We work with various basketball recruiting 

organizations that provide rankings and assessments for thousands 

of players throughout the United States. Athletes that are being 

monitored by various recruiting services may be invited as they 

clearly would be amongst the elite. 

Relationships – Having been in the industry for nearly 30 years, we 

have relationships with coaches, tournament directors, and 

administrators across the country who refer athletes to us 

Coach Referrals – Many of our athletes are referred to us by their 

coaches or opposing coaches who feel they may benefit from our 

programs 


Passports 

§� A valid passport will be required for all athletes and 

parents traveling to Costa Rica or the Bahamas. No 

Passport would be necessary for Hawaii or Las Vegas. 

§� Athletes traveling to the Bahamas or Costa Rica should 

apply for their passport immediately upon acceptance 

by Sportek Events as it can take 6 weeks or more to 

process and receive the passport.

Sportek Boot Camp 

§� All Sportek Athletes will take part in a 

Pre-Departure Boot Camp. Offered in 

Ft. Lauderdale and Las Vegas, it is an 

unparalleled basketball experience.

u� Our National Boot Camps held in Las Vegas 

and Ft. Lauderdale are led by some of the 

most outstanding NBA and Nike Skills 

Professional Trainers in the industry. 

u� Ganon Baker, Mark Adams, Alan Stein, and 

Dee Brown are just a few marquee names that 

will be working with our Sportek Athletes 

and leading the Training curriculum. 

u� Athletes will have the opportunity to work 

with these amazing NBA Trainers, and learn 

the skills and training methods that they are 

teaching NBA Players! 


§� Ganon Baker is Nike’s Premier Trainer to NBAProfessional Athletes, 

and has worked with LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Kobe Bryant, 

Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and many others. 

§� Ganon is recognized as the innovator and founder of the current 

Basketball Training Industry (in his 11 th season), and his experience 

and expertise is unmatched. 

§� Ganon will be training our athletes at the Las Vegas World 

Championship Cup and Training Camp, and will also direct 

additional training sessions for our athletes in Hawaii.

Alan Stein 

§� Alan Stein is the owner of “Stronger 

Team” and the Head Strength & 

Conditioning Coach at perennial 

powerhouse DeMatha Catholic High 

School in Maryland. 

§� Alan is a consultant for Nike Basketball, 

and is the head strength coach for the 

annual Jordan Brand All-American 

Classic and Nike Summer Academies. 

His expertise and knowledge has 

allowed him to work with such stars as 

Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and many 

more. 

§� Alan will be training our athletes at the 

Las Vegas World Championship Cup 

and Training Camp. 


Dee Brown 

§� Dee Brown is currently the Assistant 

Coach for the Detroit Pistons, and is also a 

National Nike Basketball Elite Skills 

Instructor. 

§� A former first round NBA Draft Pick and 

All-Star Weekend NBA Slam Dunk 

Contest winner, Dee brings excitement, 

experience, and passion to his skill 

training sessions. Coach Brown has 

directed skill development camps and 

events in China, Australia, Brazil, and 

Africa, and also assists with training in the 

Deron Williams, Kevin Durant, and the 

LeBron James Skill Academies. 

§� Coach Brown will be training our athletes 

at the Las Vegas World Championship 

Cup and Training Camp. 


§� Mark Adams has coached and trained Athletes at the Professional, Collegiate and Scholastic 

levels, and will be back with Sportek for the second consecutive year. 

§� A Nike Skills Trainer and currently serving as the Executive Director of Basketball Operations 

and Player Development at Hoops City U in Durham, NC, Adams brings a fiery intensity to his 

workouts and athletes are sure to improve dramatically under his watch. 

§� Coach Adams will be leading the High Intensity Boot Camp in Ft. Lauderdale for the Bahamas 

and Costa Rica Athletes, and additionally will travel to the Bahamas to lead an international 

training academy for both American and Bahamian Participants.

How to Join – Step #1 

Sportek Informational Meetings 

§� To help you learn about Sportek Events, our programs and how you can 

participate, we conduct Informational Meetings across the United States to allow 

our Sportek Staff to meet you and explain more about our unique Basketball 

Programs. 

Step 1 : Attend the Informational Meeting Near You 

§� Visit our website and RSVP to the meeting site nearest to you 

www.sportekevents.com. 

§� Attend the Informational Meeting, consisting of other invited athletes from 

your area and learn about our programs in depth from our Sportek Events 

Staff Member. 

§� Review with your family all documents and materials distributed at your 

meeting, and discuss with your parents/guardians which program would fit 

your needs and basketball goals most appropriately.

How to Join – Step #2 

§� Step 2 : Apply to Sportek Events 

§� After you have attended your local Informational Meeting 

which you were invited to, you will have the opportunity to 

either Fax, Mail, or complete your Official Sportek Events 2013 

Tour Application online. Full instructions and details are 

provided at your Meeting. 

§� Upon Acceptance, Sportek Events will mail you a Formal 

Acceptance Packet and Welcome Letter. 


How To Join – Step #3 

§� Step 3: Complete All Necessary Documentation 

§� At your Informational Meeting, there will be details provided 

relative to important supplemental documentation required 

for application. 

§� These documents may include (but are not limited to)

§� Athlete Behavior Contract

Moving Forward 

§� What happens after acceptance? 

§� Every month, there will be program 

update webinar meetings allowing 

you to join in on your computer and 

stay engaged with the Program 

Process. This will continue up to the 

Program Date. 

§� Athletes and Parents will receive 

email correspondence from Sportek 

Staff updating them on travel plans, 

itineraries, reminders and other 

pertinent details. 


Virtual Trainer 

§� Athletes will begin training 8 weeks prior to the program through 

our exclusive Sportek Online Virtual Trainer. This program, 

designed by NBA Trainer Damin Altizer, enables you to benefit 

from the expertise of an NBA Trainer to expedite your 

development. All Virtual Training is conducted from your home.
