REFACE
Natural Grains was established in 1936 by the brothers Noël and Robert
De Scheemaecker, pigeon racing champions in those days, and editors,
since 1930, of a magazine on pigeon racing in French and in Dutch.
More than 70 years later, Natural, the first producer of grain mixtures
for racing pigeons is still controlled by the De Scheemaecker family.
This longevity is unique in the world of pigeon fancying.
The Natural company enjoys worldwide fame in the field of
racing pigeons’ feed, care and the breeding of racing pigeons.
Natural mixtures and complementary products are sold in over
46 countries. Pigeon fanciers all over the world confide in Natural.
These are our assets:

In this leaflet we present our complementary products to provide improved
feeding and hygiene for the racing pigeon. They are the result of the extensive
experience gathered by pigeon fanciers and intensified specialisation.
To this effect the number of products is reduced. Indeed, we only wish
to present useful products having the qualities we can truly believe in.
All our products are intensively tested at the Natural Breeding Station
which houses 14.000 pigeons but are also tested in our pigeon lofts
and in the lofts of the pigeon fanciers of our staff.

NATURAMINE
OLIGO BOOST
NATURAMINE IS A TONIC CONSISTING OF MINERALS,

Naturamine is a tonic consisting of minerals, trace elements and important
amino acids. Naturamine is assimilated very easily by the pigeon organism.
RACING – BREEDING – MOULT
During the racing season Naturamine enhances the pigeon’s physical
condition. Naturamine is the ideal supplement during the breeding and
moulting season. During these two periods additional administration of
minerals and trace elements is essential.
Regular use of Naturamine guarantees a successful breeding season,
healthy young birds, pigeons in top condition and a perfect moult.
The Naturamine minerals and oligo-elements in liquid form are very well
tolerated and absorbed as opposed to the solid substances of which only a
very small percentage is absorbed, resulting in a much smaller positive effect.
By adding important amino acids such as methonin and lysine that are
important for the pigeon’s growth process and of cholin for enhanced
functioning of the liver and through its specific composition, Naturamine
is a very efficient tonic for the pigeon’s physical condition and overall
health condition.

Initial dose
5 ml - 1 coffee spoon per litre of drinking water
Important
before starting the maintenance dose a course of treatment

Racing season
Once per week after the return from a race.
Breeding season
Two to three times weekly from pairing up to the time
of weaning off.
Moulting season
Twice weekly during the entire moulting season.

The carefully, balanced composition of Nutri-Power makes it particularly
suitable for bringing racing pigeons in condition.
The easily digestible character of the product not only accelerates recovery
after physical exercise, it also provides the pigeon fancier with another benefit.
It is a food supplement that has to be fed to pigeons according
to the instructions below.
First of all we must point out that pigeons that were never fed a granulated
feed may not immediately accept Nutri-Power.
However, if they have tasted this granulated feed once your pigeons
will eat it with great pleasure afterwards.
We advise feed the pigeons less one day before the first time
they are fed with Nutri-Power.
• DIRECTIONS OF USE
During the racing season:
1. Speed races (up to 250 km)
Feed on the day of arrival and the 2 following days:
4g (1 measuring spoon) daily with the grain mixture.
2. Middle distance (250 km to 400 km)
4g daily together with the grain mixture.
3. Long Middle distance (400 km to 600 km)
a) If you basket weekly (e.g. hens):
feed 4g daily with the grain mixture.
b) If you basket every 2 weeks (usual for widowers) feed 4g daily:
with the grain mixture, except if their loft-partners are basketed.
4. Long Distance (600 km to 800 km)
• Feed from 2 weeks before the first long distance race:
feed 4g daily with the grain mixture.
• Feed the day of arrival and the 2 next days:
feed daily 4g with the grain mixture.
• As a preparation for the next long distance races: the five
last days before basketing feed 4g daily with the grain mixture.
5. Extra Long Distance (from 800 km)
Same as for long distance pigeons (see under 4).
6. Programme pigeons (200 km to 600 km)
Same method as for long middle distance pigeons (see under 3).
Other uses:
breeding, weaned young birds, sickness, exhaustion and serious loss of weight.

The NATURAL PLANT at SCHOTEN
This plant exclusively produces grain mixtures for
racing pigeons shipped to the four corners of the world.

INERALS
Pigeons mainly eat grains. It has been scientifically proven that minerals
are essential elements for the organism.
If macro-elements are required in large amounts, small amounts
of trace elements are no less essential.
Amongst the macro-elements are calcium, phosphorous, potassium,
sodium, chlorine, sulphur and magnesium.
Trace elements include manganese, iodine, zinc, cobalt, iron and copper.
Calcium and phosphorous represent three-quarters of the minerals found
in the pigeon’s organism. In addition to their role in the skeleton, calcium
and phosphorous perform critical physiological functions such as muscular
contraction, nervous conduction, blood coagulation, regulation of osmotic
and ionic equilibria and chemical reactions that generate energy.
It should also be noted that 97% of the shell of the pigeon egg
consists of calcium.
The organism’s needs are thus highly variable and crucially important.
Grains are poor in calcium. Pigeons need supplementary minerals.
Nutritional deficiencies manifesting themselves, for example,
in the deviation of the breast-bone by young pigeons.
The shell of the eggs produced by poorly fed pigeons are
frequently malformed.
Vitamineral, Picking Stone, Pickpot, Grit and Red Stone
will see to it that your pigeons get all the necessary minerals.

VITAMINISED MINERALS

Natural launched Vitamineral in 1952.
By doing so Natural became the first company to produce
a special vitaminised mineral mix for racing pigeons.
Vitamineral won the confidence of Belgian pigeon fanciers in no time
as it meant a breakthrough in the feeding habits of the racing pigeon.
Natural has constantly improved the composition of Vitamineral.
Vitamineral contains all the minerals necessary for a balanced diet.
In addition to essential minerals, Vitamineral contains vitamins A, D and E,

seaweed, magnesium, grit, redstone, oyster shells, stomach grit, charcoal, etc.

Natural Grit is a mixture of silex, red stone and oyster shells.

The Natural Redstone is made of clay fired at very high temperatures
(over 1.000°C) in a special furnace, before being ground.
Redstone is also one of the ingredients of the Natural Grit which

ITAMINS
Vitamins are organic substances indispensable to racing pigeons at minute doses.
The pigeon’s organism is not always capable of synthesizing them.
When feeding is unbalanced, avitaminosis, i.e. deficiency of one
or several vitamins, may occur.
The life conditions of the pigeon do not always provide a balanced source
of vitamins and avitaminoses may be observed and cause disorders and lesions.
In that case, avitaminosis manifest itselfs by well-defined signs such as growth
disturbances, diminished fertility, diminished resistance to disease and
a less than optimum racing performance.
Vitamin requirements depend on a number of factors that vary with
the time of the season.
Thus the stress induced by competition, breeding, disease, moulting, etc.
increases the demand and is liable to induce avitaminosis.

The composition of Naturavit Plus, being based on the most recent scientific
research, guarantees that the pigeon will receive a balanced supply of

DURING THE BREEDING AND MOULTING SEASON
One measure of Naturavit Plus per 2 litres of drinking water
during 1 day per week.
DURING THE RACING SEASON
One measure of Naturavit Plus per litre of drinking water,
preferably two days before the day of basketing.
After a difficult flight it is advisable to mix one measure
of Naturavit Plus per litre of drinking water, the day after
the pigeons returned.
AFTER ANY TREATMENT OF A DISEASE
After any treatment it is important to administer vitamins
to the pigeons for three days.
In this case one measure of Naturavit Plus must be given
per litre of drinking water.

The raw material is only obtained from breweries. It is dried thoroughly and

•DIRECTIONS
DURING THE BREEDING AND MOULTING SEASON
Add Vitaminor brewer’s yeast at least twice weekly to the ration of grain.
BEFORE THE RACING SEASON
10-day diet during which Vitaminor brewer’s yeast is added to the ration
of grain to stimulate the pigeons’ physical condition.
DURING THE RACING SEASON
It is advisable to add Vitaminor brewer’s yeast to the depurative mixture
on the day they return from the race and on the following day to make
sure they recover quickly from the efforts.
AFTER ANY TREATMENT OF A DISEASE
It is also advisable during and after a treatment against trichomonas, worms,
coccidiosis and other infections to give Vitaminor brewer’s yeast.
•DOSAGE
Mix a generous dessert-spoonful of Vitaminor or the quantity in the can lid
with 1 kg of grains.
For optimum results moisten the grains with garlic oil, or lemon juice or
water to ensure a better adherence of Vitaminor to the grains.

ELECTROLIT
A MIXTURE OF ELECTROLYTES
AND GLUCOSE FOR RAPID
RECOVERY AFTER A FLIGHT

The heightened metabolism and substantial exertion of the pigeon in flight
result in numerous waste products. In the elimination of urea, uric and
phosphoric acid, lactic and carbonic acid, mainly sodium ions are consumed
and elimination is therefore dependent on the quantity of these ions available
to the pigeon. Water loss is also appreciable during flight.
For all these reasons it is important to give pigeons Natural Electrolit
on their return from a race.
This energy-drink effectively compensates water and electrolyte depletion
and progressively restores the acid-base equilibrium. It also represents an
immediate energy gain (glucose), which markedly shortens the recovery period.
Diseases such as adenovirosis and paramyxovirosis cause diarrhoea resulting in
a major loss of minerals and water loss. Natural Electrolit prevents dehydration
caused by diarrhoea and accelerates the recovery from a disease.
•DIRECTIONS
ON THE RETURN OF A RACE
Mix Natural Electrolit in the drinking water and leave it
at their disposal until after the evening meal.
THE DAY OF BASKETING
The pigeons that take part in long-distance and very long
distance races are under way for several days and nights.
It is essential that these pigeons are basketed with sufficient reserves
of electrolytes (body minerals). This is why we advise to mix
Natural Electrolit to the drinking water on the day of basketing.
IN CASE OF SEVERE, WATERY DIARRHOEA
Administer Natural Electrolit until the droppings return to normal again.
•DOSAGE
240 g packing:
1 bag of Electrolit per litre of drinking water.

Since time immemorial plants have been used to cure and preserve
the health of both humans and animals. Pigeon fanciers have also applied
themselves to improve the health and condition of their pigeons by
administering teas and plant infusions.
The management of Natural has always been interested in phytotherapy.
Numerous tests carried out in the course of several years have contributed
to the elaboration of three Natural complementary products.

Naturaline is a concentrated extract concocted from some fifteen varieties
of selected plants and greens. Naturaline also contains Echinazea extracts
that enhance the general resistance of the pigeon.
In addition to its active ingredients, this extract contains many other substances
that appear to contribute to the specific action of the treatments since they
can accelerate or slow up their assimilation by the digestive system.
Naturaline keeps pH-values naturally at the proper level.
The component plants and greens of Naturaline have been carefully selected
for their beneficial effects on the respiratory, digestive and urinary tracts.
That is why pigeons that regularly receive Naturaline in their drinking water
present a rosy skin, indicating that their blood is pure and free from toxins.
Their plumage becomes glossy and displays a unique rich, creamy smoothness.
Moreover, the pigmentation and lustre of the eye are heightened.

The use of Naturaline is particularly advisable during the racing season,
the moulting season and in case of watery droppings caused by

DURING THE RACING SEASON
During a 10-day diet Naturaline is mixed with the drinking water
at the beginning of the racing season. After this, twice weekly after
the birds return home from a race.
DURING THE MOULTING SEASON
One or two days per week.
IN CASE OF WATERY DIARRHOEA
Caused by adenovirosis and paramyxovirosis:
mix Naturaline daily with the drinking water as long as the symptoms persist.
RECENTLY WEANED YOUNG BIRDS
Mix Naturaline to the drinking water for ten days.

One to two dessert-spoons of Naturaline per litre of drinking water.

TEA

A BLEND OF 16 HERBS

Extensive research has led to the conclusion that Natural Tea facilitates the
conditioning of pigeons in a wholly natural manner during the racing season.
It even enhances that condition.
Natural Tea also ensures rapid recovery after an effort.
•DIRECTIONS
BEFORE THE RACING SEASON
To enhance the pigeons’ condition, give them tea daily 8 to 10 days before
the first race. After this treatment, their plumage will be silkier and the
pigeons will swell yet become lighter - a sign of optimum blood irrigation.
DURING THE RACING SEASON
On their return from a race, give the pigeons tea. If the pigeons have flown
for many hours in hot weather, then we should give the pigeons Natural Tea
to which Electrolit has been added in order to compensate for the loss of
minerals. Tea alone can still be given as a drink on the day if pigeon returns
from a race purification of the organism is desirable.
DURING THE MOULTING PERIOD
The pigeon must cope with a substantial energy demand and top condition
is crucial to a perfect moult. Tea, given 1-2 days per week during this period,
facilitates the optimal regeneration of the plumage.
•DOSAGE
One generous dessert-spoonful of Natural Tea per litre of boiling water.
Allow to infuse for 10 minutes with the lid on the pot.
Filter, allow to cool and give to the pigeons as a drink.

GARLIC OIL
FOR IMPROVED CONDITION
AND HEALTH OF THE RACING PIGEON

Garlic is a plant that has been known and used for thousands of years
for its exceptional curative properties. It stimulates gastric secretion
and prevents fermentation and digestive disorders.
What is more, it improves the blood circulation and affords protection
of the air ways and protection against worms.
Most pigeon fanciers are familiar with the therapeutic action of garlic
and many are having their pigeons benefit from it. It is for this reason that
some of them routinely put a clove of garlic in the pigeon’s drinking water.
This method is not effective as the virtues of the plant are essentially lost
on the bird.
Natural, the leading pigeon feed specialist, has had dieticians and
veterinary surgeons study and solve this problem.
Hence, the development of Natural Garlic Oil.
Natural Garlic Oil is a product in a class of its own giving pigeons
the full benefit of garlic.
Natural garlic oil is composed of pure garlic extracts and refined soya oil,
rich in linolenic and linoleic acid.
Natural garlic oil also contains vitamins E that have a favourable effect on the
fertility of the pigeons and are essential to obtain properly functioning muscles
and nervous system in order to enhance the pigeon’s condition and health.

DURING THE BREEDING AND MOULTING SEASON
Mix Natural Garlic Oil and Vitaminor Brewer’s Yeast twice or three times
per week with the daily ration of grains - 30 drops of Garlic Oil per kilo
of grains.
DURING THE RACING SEASON
Mix Natural Garlic Oil and Vitaminor Brewer’s Yeast with a depurative
or diet mix on the day of the return from a race and the following day.
30 drops of Garlic Oil per kg of grains.
AS A PREPARATION BEFORE A LONG DISTANCE RACE
The soya oil in the Natural Garlic Oil is the ideal substance to accumulate
fat reserves in the pigeon’s body.
We advise: 4 to 6 days before basketing (depending on the distance)
one drop of garlic oil per pigeon, to be mixed with the daily grain ration,
adding Vitaminor brewer’s yeast .

Some pigeon fanciers claim that small seeds overstimulate pigeons and therefore
tend to shorten the period in which they remain in top form for races.
We are convinced, on the contrary, that small seeds, when given in moderation,
play a role in safeguarding their form since they constitute an energizing nutrient
supplement capable of developing form in several respects.
If after their morning and evening training sessions, the widowers discover
a pinch of small seeds in their nest box, they will develop the habit of
returning more rapidly.
•DIRECTIONS
A small tea-spoonful of small seeds per day per pigeon during the racing
season will enhance the condition of the pigeons and their resistance
to temperature variations.

Natural Bath Salt is a high quality product aimed at satisfying the most
demanding pigeon fancier.
The raw materials used in its production are the same as those used in bath
salts for human consumption.There will not be any blue or yellow tingeing,
as no chemical colouring is used in its composition and only natural pine
extracts are used.
Natural Bath Salt gives a soft, smooth plumage and rids the epidermis
of any flakiness (dandruff) without irritating the skin.
It tones up and stimulates the organism when administered in a cold bath.
However, it relaxes the muscles and accelerates the recovery process
at the return of races if the bath is warm.
It is thus the ideal product for pigeon fanciers used to give their pigeons
a warm bath when they return from races.
Its natural disinfecting action provides a good body hygiene and rids
the plumage of vermin.
We therefore recommend you add Natural Bath Salt to the bath water
once or twice a month during moulting as it is important for the growth
of new feathers not be disturbed by parasites. This is particularly important
during the moulting period as the tonic effect of the Natural Bath Salt
stimulates blood circulation and helps the moulting of the down-feathers.
Natural Bath Salt efficiently contributes to the health of the new plumage.
During the racing season, the regular use of Natural Bath Salt will keep the
feathers glossy and smooth. At their return from a difficult race we recommend
you add the contents of half a lid of Natural Bath Salt to a bucket filled with
warm water and immerse the pigeons one by one for one minute while lightly
massaging their pectoral muscles.
