<str<strong>on</strong>g>MusicPromoToday</str<strong>on</strong>g>.<str<strong>on</strong>g>com’s</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>take</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>new</strong> <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong>, <strong>and</strong> <strong>it’s</strong> <strong>really</strong> <strong>good</strong> <strong>folks</strong>!<br />

Remember when <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong> first started out? It didn’t generate much excitement, <strong>and</strong><br />

didn’t last very l<strong>on</strong>g; so<strong>on</strong> after it also kind of crashed. Not did <strong>the</strong>y lose subscribers but <strong>the</strong>y<br />

also paid very low fees to artists for <strong>the</strong>ir s<strong>on</strong>gs, especially when compared to <strong>the</strong> likes of<br />

Spotify <strong>and</strong> Apple Music. Despite that, <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong>’s <strong>new</strong> recent face lift, as seen below, is <strong>the</strong><br />

least of what’s change; though <strong>the</strong>y still d<strong>on</strong>’t purport to pay artists much more, <strong>the</strong> user<br />

friendliness <strong>and</strong> services offered to artists more than make up for <strong>the</strong> difference, from digital<br />

marketing to b<strong>and</strong> promoti<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> entire thing is much better!<br />

Al<strong>on</strong>g with <strong>it’s</strong> dynamic <strong>new</strong> look, <strong>the</strong> recent additi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong> has made are directly for<br />

<strong>the</strong> fans <strong>and</strong> are sure to increase <strong>the</strong> amount of paid <strong>and</strong> free subscribers both, <strong>and</strong> as<br />

menti<strong>on</strong>ed before, vastly help artists out by way of marketing.<br />

1. They signed a major direct licensing deal with Merlin Network, Universal Music<br />

Group, Warner Music Group, <strong>and</strong> S<strong>on</strong>y Music which now allows <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong> to not<br />

<strong>on</strong>ly add <strong>new</strong> features but also have more c<strong>on</strong>trol over <strong>the</strong>ir services <strong>and</strong> of<br />

course, build a <strong>new</strong> product with all of <strong>the</strong>se included.<br />

2. <strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong> has also used this to add two <strong>new</strong> features to <strong>the</strong>ir signature radio<br />

products. The ability to listen to music offline, <strong>and</strong> replay selected tracks are now<br />

available for both paying <strong>and</strong> free membership subscribers. Both of <strong>the</strong>se user<br />

directed add <strong>on</strong>s are certainly going to start drawing a following as people like<br />

c<strong>on</strong>venience.<br />

3. For <strong>the</strong> artists, <strong>the</strong> direct licensing deals do pay <strong>the</strong>m more across all tiers of <strong>the</strong><br />

software.<br />

<strong>P<strong>and</strong>ora</strong> Premium gets <strong>it’s</strong> own pers<strong>on</strong>al tune-up with <strong>the</strong> Music Genome Project. A<br />

system which will make it much more user-friendly. The Genome project is an advanced system<br />

that can navigate through your preferred type of music, based <strong>on</strong> what you listen to <strong>and</strong> suggest<br />

<strong>new</strong> <strong>on</strong>es based <strong>on</strong> its algorithm. Something like Spotify’s Discover feature, but apparently,<br />

much more advanced in how it determines your preferred type of music. Ano<strong>the</strong>r plus for <strong>the</strong><br />

listener is that with <strong>the</strong>se results, <strong>the</strong> Genome project will suggest extremely pers<strong>on</strong>alised s<strong>on</strong>g<br />

choices for your c<strong>on</strong>tinued listening, <strong>and</strong> as with everything streaming, especially for <strong>the</strong> artists;<br />

mo’ streaming means mo’ m<strong>on</strong>ey n’ mo’ exposure. No artist would argue with this kind of free<br />

music promoti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The next ability of music selecti<strong>on</strong> is found with Thumbprint Radio, where again with<br />

algorithms, users are ushered towards stati<strong>on</strong>s that <strong>the</strong> user is most likely going to enjoy based<br />

<strong>on</strong> s<strong>on</strong>gs he or she have thumbed through.

Ticketfly is <strong>the</strong> next great marketing advantage for artists. Listeners will be able to keep<br />

up to date <strong>on</strong> all of <strong>the</strong>ir artists’ c<strong>on</strong>cert listings <strong>and</strong> even purchase tickets through <strong>the</strong> app,<br />

should <strong>on</strong>e such c<strong>on</strong>cert be available. This feature should increase ticket sales, thus increasing<br />

<strong>the</strong> bottom line for not <strong>on</strong>ly <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>cert venues, but <strong>the</strong> artists as well.<br />

Though <strong>the</strong>re are a few more positive additi<strong>on</strong>s that are meant to help <strong>the</strong> fan experience, <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>on</strong>e major <strong>on</strong>e that is sure to increase interactivity is <strong>the</strong> AMP. A free artist marketing tool in<br />

which <strong>the</strong> music artists can actually send out messages to targeted people, in order to speak<br />

with <strong>the</strong>m directly. The additi<strong>on</strong> can also track <strong>and</strong> analyse data to help fur<strong>the</strong>r an artist's<br />

marketing <strong>and</strong> sales campaign. The AMP is not <strong>on</strong>ly an amazing music promoti<strong>on</strong> tool, but can<br />

help artists directly reach out to fans <strong>and</strong> increase <strong>the</strong>ir popularity <strong>and</strong> <strong>on</strong>line music sales.
